hey Gdog
love it man - cheers for posting laurie - its my goal to make something similar this year

quick question - had you considered chambering the inner sections to reduce weight?
i had seen this method previously and was going to give it a try - any advice on why/why not to do it that way appreciated (i just pictured getting the rough deck outline at the stage before glueing, and then chambering with a good inch or so left against the rail)

cheers

I take my hat off to you. Absolutely fantastic. Both boards are a piece of art.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, I did not do it mainly because I am impatient but also because I was not sure if chambering would weaken the board. I was not even sure that if you jumped on the board hard it would not just split down the middle. A sheet of light glass would allow going thinner but I have not attempted fibreglassing yet so I kept it simple.
I am also not sure that the lightest board is the best board (within reason). My board is heavier than most but does not get blown around. Hard to explain but the board rides high and feels connected to the water. Good luck with your board and please post the results.

I spent a very long time trawling the net looking for an economical option that was light and flat. Finally found Advection (www.surfkitefly.com). Bought the 8' Mal set that was delivered for $79, and there is enough left to perfectly cover the fish. There would be a good market if someone could get a roll of this stuff and sell it by the meter. I would love to see your board when you are done.

Having ridden the G Board I can vouch that it really is a work of art. Even better is that it is a great ride for our crappy little slop as well. Keen to give it another run now that you have put on the deck grip.

Loving the G Board logo, handy work of Strez or Dom?

Dom did the spray job, the Buddha was a sketch I found by Andrew Read (he has some other great sketches as well, If you like the Duke and Clint Eastwood), I contacted him and he did not mind me using it. I will stick the tread on the Fish today and drop it off to Dom this arvo. Cant wait to ride it.

Sweet boards Gdog. I hope you've patented your special modified Gclamps Wish i could craft one of those sticks. I made a chopping board in woodwork once, started out the size of a boogie board, by the time I got the router right and edges straight it was about the size of a kraft single.
