A few months ago i asked if anyone had an old kite I cold use to cover a trailer.. here's the result.

I have a Jeep Wrangler and everyone knows there is little boot / storage space on them. While it was just me I could throw the gear inside and go but having a partner and Mini person (kid) to travel with I quickly ran out of space.

So I decided to build a 'Boot' for Lola my Jeep. Btw I don't deserve the credit for naming rights.. Brea does (5 yrs)

Have a look at the start picture and the end product. Not going to tell you how much I spent because I am too scared to add it up but I reckon it is worth it. If anyone is particularly interested on details I can help with that, photos and procedures.

Among others credit must go to Steve KP for the gift of the old kite. I will use the remainder to test the KiteLife products.. see thread on that.

Enjoy, V

Haha - Sick!!!!! Is that just tarp material with the bits of the kite cut out and stitched on? or is it a grey Crossbow?

You're spot on Rhys.. it is tarp for water proofing. The Xbow bits have been glued, stitched & then the seams have been painted with Seam Sealer.

I had to learn to machine sew for this .. but any new skill is a good skill. No, I will not go into business. This was definately a one-off[}:)]

Nice work Sir V, did you use a normal sewing machine or did you need to get something a bit more industrial ?

Lol, not only do you have a jeep (Most impractical vehicle ever) but you now have a trailer which advertises the fact that it may be loaded with thousands of dollars worth of kiting gear, and can be easily slashed open. Then you tell everyone about it on the Internet. Pure genius.

Only a kiter would know it had a kite covering, so what's the problem?

To no one in particular.. isn't it about time we learn different behaviour on this site?

I guess I am quite fortunate to live in an area where all kiters I know are really good people and the vibe is awesome. I don't leave my gear anywhere where it runs the risk of being stolen and usually just take the 'boot' when I go out with my girls, which means someone is always around. The areas where I kite present no theft peoblems as the crew is really good quality of people.

I have a Jeep, fair enough, no security to start with. People can get into a Jeep simply by unzipping the windows. It is alarmed, and it will tell me if any one even gets close, up to 5kms damn good alarm. It is a very good deterrent but only that..

One more point.. if they really want your gear there is almost nothing you can do about it, they'll get in. At least they don't need to break a window or a lock to get in. I don't go around being afraid of everything, if if happens.. it's life - that's what insurance is for .

Besides, if I was afraid all the time I wouldn't get out of bed because I could trip on the bedsheet and stumble and break my neck.. you know the story. So where do you draw the line about allowing 'what may happen' to limit how much you enjoy life? Care to list the 'possibilities' of injury in our sport? With negative attitude how is anyone ever going to try a kiteloop?

My Mom's piece of wisdom: If you haven't got something nice to say perhaps you should keep your mouth shut.. My Dad was bit more direct, let's not go there..

Damn, I rant hey? Peace and good winds.

Is this the sydney vibe you were referring to?:

Yes, fair enough if you're ok with the latest statistics presented by a very professional statistics authority......

Good to hear the anti-sentiment for Wrangler.
We we all thinking the same. Wranglers should be worn and not driven.

I do admit it is hilarious... on 2 counts:

1 - the funny side: the king of Wishy's deserves a tiara for his sense of humour

2 - the sad side: that he spent several hours on a Saturday night dreaming up ways and building charts to make his point. I guess his only friend had a better offer..

Peace and good winds

I hear what your'e saying V. Not like you are the kind of guy to spend hours on pointless details right??????? If a bird ****s on the trailer, maybe you could ship it to moti and get him to hand paint over the discoloured bit.

@ whisy that bar graph is awesome.

My comments
Your a mean sonofa Smedgy . Don't I seem to recal you buying a van and seeking advice and approval for your mods to turn it into the " Holy Grail " of kite wagons.
The only thing Sir V is guilty of is putting himself out there again ( the
Moti issue ) and reaping the results. ie. the usual on this forum. personally I wouldn't have invested the time. Roof racks and a sugar bag work for me. But then again. I'm an anal sort of bloke

Of course I would post a picture/details of my car....then everyone can steal my kiting gear...and bash me for being rude to them on the internet...that would be...pure genius?
