Looks good. How busy and feral was the camp ground?

My family used to camp there every June and xmas school holidays when I was a kid - dare I say more than 20years ago - back then, you needed 4x4 to get there and occasionally it was so busy we could see the next camp through the trees. Man those were great camping trips, never heard of kiting, but there was unlimited fish and sand crabs in pelican bay -then the pros destroyed that

I took my son up there in February last year for the weekend and we had the place to ourselves relatively speaking.

We enjoyed two days of kiting flat water.

For Australia Day long Wkend it was great, I guess the 30+knt winds kept a lot of the campers away bad for them good for us kiters and poleys, so there were heaps of spots around to not hear your neighbours conversations. Also now the road is sealed all the way to Inskip Point except for maybe a 300m stretch of sand to the barge to Fraser Island, there's a few camp sites around from rainbow beach to double Island Point where 2wd ers can setup as well.

Pretty much man, at one point it got down to mid 20's and up to mid 30's but mostly around 30knots from 2pm to 4pm. At the end we packed up and headed to Rainbow Beach to have a look and the sea was wild, not even the life guards were out so Inskip Point was the right choice in a SE

How gusty was that spot? West side of point? I was there today but the east side of the point, was thinking of going that side near the barge but thought it would be hell gusty coming over the land. Sunday we were at rainbow, waves were hectic but clean strong wind.

True, the wind was nice N clean at rainbow but the ocean swell was just a little too rough for my liking with a twin tip, we parked up on the west side of Inskip half way between the trees and barge. Once up along the bank wind was good gusts were no more than 3-4knots and out on the water it was pretty constant bar a few sketchy patches which you could always spot and go around. Best of all because there were only two of us we had all the air time you could want without having to worry about landing space lol

The day the second picture was taken was the second day and the wind was a little lighter. From memory around 15-18knots and it was from the SE as well. The pic is of my son (13 at the time) and he is on a 8m. The first pic was from the day before and had a little more wind and still nice and flat. We both had a blast that day. It is definitely the place to kite up there in those conditions and on the northern side of that sand bank it is like glass!
