hi everyone, just arrived from UK for a few weeks...can't get over how much you guys love the Euros...so long as they aren't french or Germans I don't mind. I'm not one of 'them' by the way...

Am staying down in Mandurah for a bit with extended family & looking for some waves to kite. I get a fair bit of flat water in UK so I'm looking to build my skills up in waves.

Drove past Avalon briefly the other day (just off Old Coast Road) but couldn't get a good look - if any locals could suggest what wind it works best in please?

Hope to see you down there soon.

Humphrey

Gibbo's right decent waves will be unlikely. Honestly, there's 100's of km's of coastline that will be offering around knee to (thigh if your lucky) waves in the windy season.
Winter will offer some more swell during and after fronts... but that's about it. Sorry but Perth does actually suck for waves.

The 'Speaking of locations Police' are in full force and are targeting any humans who can type or talk!!! Gibbo's not joking!!

Enjoy your stay.

More importantly, who's idea was it for a kid's show animal to have a hat, vest - but no kn pants?? Creepy.

If it gets over 2 foot here we all get chubbies and start calling ouselves big-wave-warriors. Just a few weeks ago I was smashin a 3 foot monster! Good times.

BTW - don't post google earth pics with street names (that hoardes of smelly van inhabiting Teuros will latch onto) and you may get a better response from the rabid locals.

All WA spots ONLY work on a north to nor-west wind.

Jesus you guys are funny pricks had a good old belly laugh. You are also complete wankers.

Dude the sport has grown and is growing at such a rate posting a request about a certain spot is unlikely to yield serious replies.

In mandurah you have an enormous body of flat water, so use it. Not quite as good as bibra lake though...

Avalon is the sketchiest launch you will find in WA, due to the beach location in reference to the prevailing winds and the farqin wanker rich houses that have now been built -avalon used to be heaven on earth, not anymore. The cut destroyed it (but did save to estuary).

The wind on a south west or better west south west is tolerable but the southerly is sketchy again.

As far as waves, hit margs, avalon is crap, if only for a few days a year.

Also if you do go down there watch out for waveslave, you don't follow the rules of engagement he will have your guts for garders!

i.e. a very localised spot, so watch , learn and follow because if waveslave doesn't nab yab ya the winsurfers who have used the spot for decades will!

Better spots around, better to go flat water in mandurah.

Dear all

When I posted seeking information about a previously named location, I was unaware of the hornets nest I was opening.

It was my understanding that a forum such as this was a potential guide for kiters to find out information and ask questions (especially as I am not from here & wanted to enquire as to the correct thing to do) but it seems I was incorrect.

For those of you have contacted me to point out the local concerns at my initial enquiry, thank you for the advice about local ettiquette. I will refrain from further posts after this.

The launch area just north of Forrest Rd is the only entry worth considering.
And avoid the southern end - it gets very shallow and you can sink to waist depth in the mud (and it stinks).
Lots of trees around. Not recommended for Cab riders.
