I could just imagine fifty of these in the water at Scabs.....I shall call the video Aquabogan 3: Beyond Thunderdome
Hmmmm strapped in would be more fun and if one leg gets ripped off - you can go faster till you run out of fuel or BlooD [}:)]
lets see how deep they can tube it on a big MF
Ok.... it looks super gay and I doubt any of us would be seen dead on one.... but....
you have to admit that little asian guy is pulling some sweet powered toeside carves
Aquatic equivalent of a ......Vespa
Plenty of fun to ride just don't let your friends see you on it.
Same goes with fat girls.
Hilarious! I love how they have his little heel side carve slow mowed @ 1.37
Must be super hard to turn heelside or something
What happened to that old thing called paddling on a kyak
Everything is motorised now
-motorised bike
-motorised skateboard
-motorised scooter
-now motorised surfboards and kayaks
I remember seeing a Coffs Harbour news report a couple of years back and the local surf club was trailing one of these board things.
I immediately thought of a good rescue craft for those sweat days where the waves are perfect, but the wind is offshore
I suspect the kayaks will be popular with teenage boys.
Anything that goes faster by pulling an 8 inch pole between your legs will be right up their alley.
In fact, if they had of been around when I was 15, I probably could have been World Champion.
If you think those are a bit powered up, you may lol at these ... no more paddling
Maybe this will get rid of alot of retards from kiteing because you dont have to do anything ???? hopefully
Coming to a break near you.........I hope not. Just learning how to surf.....15 hrs so far and it is such a nice sport. Recon I would be pissed off sharing a peak with a motorized thingymajig.
Re: Jet powered surfboards (the origional topic of the post)
Know a local guy who decided to bring these into Oz. Went round every Chandlery/Boat Shop in Perth looking for retailers to carry them. At $14,000 retail he got laughed out of most places. They also are rated as a jetski so using one is considered freestyle ketskiing so there is only a few places you can use it.
He decided he knew better and purchased a 40ft conainer full and proceeded to buy a sailing orientated Chandlery. Move fwd 2 years and he went broke!!
30+ years of surfing, I think I've paid my paddling dues, I want a jet powered short board!! Not so much to bludge on the paddle out, but getting into bigger waves earlier.
But, if these things take off, imagine the next generation of surfers who learn on them and don't learn the ocean lessons nor gain the strength and fitness that paddling teaches and gives.
A line up of those guys would be a dangerous place.
If you are old and can't paddle anymore, sure get one.
If you are not prepare to get dropped in on everytime.
Lets face it you will pull out pretty quick not wanting to ding you $14,000 board
