Gday Junglist,

seems there's plenty of potential up there with all the islands but doesn't seem to be a big kiting community. Have a search, it's been discussed before.

I'm just down the road at Onslow (300 k's) and the only one that kites here after the other two guys in town took off to Carnarvon.

When you arriving and for how long? The wind is just starting to pick up......

I found that the best spots were the beaches behind Wickham.
They actually have white sand, which make a nice change from the red dirt and iron ore dust which sticks to you kite forever.
Again if you have some time, the Dampier Archipelago has 40 something flat islands, you can camp on most of them, soooo many epic spots on offer.
Sorry can't remember the specific names of the ones I've visited.
Befriend someone with a boat.

G'day Junglist, there was a photo that someone put up some months ago at Dampier, kiting near the Yatch club its a basic sort of beach no waves to speak of. the red dust you need to learn to like, take some booties as well

i have a mate who has just moved up there i will check with him to see if he knows any kiters.

Hi Jung,

I use to live in Paraburdoo and went over to Dampier to Kite, the most popular beach is the one near the yatch club as mentioned above, its basically the last beach you can get to and I also found out the hard way it's also a nudist beach, seen some good and bad sites

Wickam seems to have potetial as well, the beach at the yatch club there looked pretty good, th day I was there the wind barley reached 10knots but it looked like a good spot for sure

Try to stay at the Mermaid Hotel, in Dampier, that will put you in walking distance of the Yacht Club beach and the others nearby. Your life will never be the same again, after the Mermaid.
