So today after a really **** day at work I decided to go for a kite at golden beach, caloundra. Only problem is now instead of being at home enjoying the footy I am laying in hospital awaiting surgery. This is what happened when I went to do a s bend and then board came off me feet and I got caught up with it... Needless to say I'm selling straps and am getting boots.
Thats nasty. I have a nasty arse scar across my torso from a run in with a fin. Heal up mate, chicks dig scars ( or so im told).
Boots, straps...you just got unlucky, it happens. What body part is that? Skinny calf?
I am deffinately getting boots now! I got my hamstring just under my ass and have just nicked some muscle. Who knew the fins could be that frikken sharp!! Still waiting for surgery this morning but I have to say thankyou to the guys who packed up my kite for me and were honest enough to put it in my car.
Seen a few big slices like yours. Everyone from the rear pointy edge of a North fin.
Worst one I saw was a slice opening up the guys stomach. (Hello Karl and Howie)
I haven't seen the really pointed sharp fin advertised for a while. Maybe off the market now?
Hope you are back on the water soon

Yeah I hope all board manufacturers drop that really stupid super sharp fin idea! Promoted as some sort of high performance dingbat idea. There were/are several brands doing it, not just North, but theirs were incredibly sharp and thin.
That is one nasty axe cut, hope they can stitch it up pretty clean and you are not left with much residual damage. The guys in the shop that ride boots either ride finless or with very small ramp/kicker fins no more than 15mm and blunt.
Thanks guys te board and fins were a 2013 north team series with s bend fins. They are sharp but I never thought they would do this much damage.
harsh as. I been sanding my fins down with 180 grit over the years, time to go out and check/ sand em... bruise - stay on water - cuts - off water... got a pic of a fin cut from a raceboard, it's is even more vomit than this!
Best way to blunt the rear edge of the fin is to sand it square - not round. That has the least effect on performance of the fin.
definitely a 8/10 ouch
What's a 10/10 gotta do, chop your arm off?
Yep they are fing sharp, wonder how no fins would go
Check out Dre Phillips, finless is the way to go. I have 20mm coz I just ain't that cool yet
Yep getting rid of them now and going to boots now. Pretty cut my new bag and pump were left on the grass, just hoping someone honest has picked it up and will hand them back
