Wow .. this topic went to the dogs and back.
Everybody has an off day, and surely KOP has been around long enough on Seabreeze (7 years) to have a bad day & be forgiven.
I knew him at Coro's in Gero during the late 90's, he was amazing on a board, and as you can see here, he is still mega passionate about his watersport.
A few other crew have all had their share of 'off days', and their login still lives on ..
Hopefully everybody is cool now, and realise we're all passionate about our sport .. otherwise we wouldn't be bothered doing it..
Enjoy .......
and I thought kop was just trolling for an argument
will see you on the kite forum again next season kop
Fig jam only if they all could do a figure 8 like you ...........thats what im talking
about why you come out that barrel ......back in there
Fig jam you actually line up when its bombing 3 to 8 foot and really behave at 10to 12 to 15 foot and understand the seriously heavyness and consequenses of fken around with short jyds and small waves between the sets. You do all the right things unlike that kook kiter (trick rider New .......? ) whom enters the surf for all the wrong reasons not haven even riden in real west coat waves of 3to 6 foot , or built up to it .... way out of his ability....then goes out droppen da kite right in front of your exit point, whilst your right in your rythem of riding 10 to 12 footers monsters the suns dropen quickly and once your on the inside your days all over .
Man i thought i was going to be killed, haven to take the whole kite kit out to survive or be killed ..........I flicked out of this mast plus shut down end section throwing the gear out to sea,,, to get the next 2 sets take me verticaly up and down 5m and in 1 m with me feet through the barrel trying to waterstart , i got it all back together just ......i would have probably been ok but all the gear would have been history
No one wants to lose gear get it all smashed up or even seriously injured .....injurys are no good doods.
So keep control of your hot air blader blurted
Just occurred to me, for a kiter, a cut back is a functionally redundant maneuver.
For a surfer, the objective of a cutback, roundhouse, fig 8 or generic (like that? I do) is to get back to the power of the wave, in the pocket, below the crest. He needs that power to keep moving. Too far out on the face, he is not falling down the wave, off the back he drifts.
Now, our friend on the kite, well, he carries his power with him, his own 'pocket' if you like. Anytime he pleases, as long as he hasn't ridden under the kite or put it too far to the edge of the window, he dials in some power from the kite.
Others may disagree, I respect that, but the more I think about it, kiters can just blurt down the line, slapping lips, speeding up and slowing down as they please.
Therefore, with all the authority I have to do so (absolutely bugger all) I doth thee 'King Of The Pointless Observation'
Arise sir Pointless, raise your pole, doth your headgear and set off on your quest to create havoc and argument over totally irrelevant matters. Be firm in your resolve my brave SUPPER, for there are those who think logic is the best way to resolve quandaries, however they know not the power of a good smack in the head.
Respect Elmo,
That clip certainly got my attention. It took me 3 replays before I realised they were playing instruments
I would still be a member of our local brass band if they suited up like that.
@ 41 sec was my instrutment back in the day. emmm if only.
Any way, back to taken the pi88 out of KOTP.
Right, the lot of ya.
As I tell my staff, the beatings will commence shortly and continue until morale improves!
can't say I have kited 10 to 12 foot but I bet the kiter in the line up with the kite down couldn't give a s#it if they messed up your rythem. Have you ever had a windsurfer washing through the linup effect your rythem
No and I bet hes not thinking i had better get these death trap lines wrapped up asap before I kill someone.
More than likely they will drift with 20m of lines right through the wave for 10mins till they can try and relaunch, causing chaos along the way
So no he shoudnt give a **** about the windsurfers rhythm more about his
safety
Hi, I'm new to this forum. Can someone please explain what just happened on this post? It seems way too popular for it to be so difficult to understand.
Hey Elmo,
Thanks man, just waste 1 hour watching that vid and the other links.
It was good but I should be workin.
Thanks.
Rich
My mate just surfs and got on the other day for a look. In the surf the other day he was like WTF are you guys on!

Gazza your right the safety of all on the water is priority for all water sports....(you lose consiousness of something and its all over red rover you end up with water on the lungs or brain damage .but it was the wildest challenge there i was lock in to the max......kegged in......like a run away bull on the loose from pamplona and theres med strings 100m down the line right through the line up.He was goen out with the kite down ..........fk knows how that eventually poped up.........he at this point was being dragged forward through and just over the close out sections at 10 foot.
Every thing was in slow motion ,i could not do any thing untill the beast released me from its frothing fire ball, meantime the bladder blurter and tampon strings were right infront of my exit if the beast released me just a bit i could avoid a real collision.... board body, kite body ,bloody bodies, mumifiedes bodies all wrapped up in tampon string
............as it was a final desperate lung and pump shot me forward over the lip and 10feet up in the air outwards and down the line up i had to throw the gear away to save a huge injury crash at max speed.
The gear missed him and the tampon line... but ****en give me the worst freak out ......
I scramble to get my gear organised and out of the lair of the next set of fire breathing dragons.
For that you will sux you donky.
Beer WASHED the memory but i get flash backs[}:)]
Do you call this KITE MERES Because i fk do
ill trade cutbacks for barrels any day of the week! plus i'm happy riding a board that isnt measured in litres!
Even tho KOTP has been on a nightly, out of control rant I kinda understand.
I started as a wavesailor (even did some summers in gero), then due to lack of wind in SA, started kiting.
All for it's own, if it's dribbly onshores I kite, but for those 35knt days it's a poleboard for sure.
Living in gero can play tricks on the mind (so can to much cray fish and locally grown pot) but too many kooky euros or over cocky Aussies can also make your blood boil.
1 bad experience has obviously tipped the scale.
I know I've shook my head at what both kite mates and PB mates have done on the water.
Enjoy lads.
