I've Noticed a lot of kite mates ive met around the world and on DVDs are super into Reggae--Slightly Stoopid, Sublime, Ziggy Marley, Bob, Etc...

Just keen to find what everyone else is into, Cause I know a lot of surfers share the love of the Chill out like Jack Johnson and JBT.

(Im into reggae myself)

Fat Freddy's Drop- Based on a True Story....chill out, great bass

Sam Sparro- Black and Gold.....awesome mellow tunes you can sing to yourself while cruisin in 20 knot winds

Kitesurfing lends itself to more intense music, like the Junglist says "Got any Jungle in guy?"

The Black Seeds is good for getting to the beach, Shapeshifter or Prodigy (Smack my Bitch Up) for setting up. Maybe some Fat Freddys drop for later. I know I'll probably get shouted down but Jack Johnson is just elevator music to me... "Oooh, I'm Jack Johnson, I'm super chilled because I live in Hawaii and I used to be a pro surfer, now I just play the guitar and sit on the beach, isn't life wonderful blah blah blah..."

However, my "whilst riding song" is just shameful. I don't know what it's called, but its one of those hip hop R&B crossovers and it has the line "You can do it put your back into it!" I sing it to myself whilst on the water, usually when I have the Boxer SLE 15m out in 20kt winds.

It helps me use the harness more... honest!

Reggae is awesome but I'm more into the choice bro reggae, such as Katchafire, Cornerstone Roots, The Black Seeds, Fat Freddys Drop...

Depends on my mood at the time, ranges from Aussie Hip Hop (Butterfingers, Hilltops, Pegz) to Xavier Rudd and JBT through to the really heavy stuff Rivethead, Lamb of God. Definately can't forget the old favs (Rage, Nirvana, STP, Tool, APC) and some newer atlernative to slightly (hate to say it) emoISH stuff lol, AFI, Panic! at the Disco, My Chemical Romance and Coheed and Cambria.

(Damn, I like a lot of music)

Haven't found a single style or artist that gives the full package. In each adrenaline pumping genre or album there are some dodgy soungs and there are few good ones.

I find Drum & Bass more suitable for ambiental meditaional feel, whereas for kiting you really wanna get pumped up...

Reggae has some pretty good tunes that could do the work. But generally it's a bit slow.

But what gives me most adrenaline are good upbeat fast breakbeat tunes. Although there are some artists that have very good concepts (i.e. Calyx), but the songs tend to get to repeatitive and hance push you into a trance and reduce motivation rather than full alertness with adrenaline.

Also some of the music used for breakdancing is very suitable (breakbeaty trip hop tunes), as they deliberatelly choose tunes that encourage those hard movements and keep them in rythm... hence it must be good for kiting too.

Jungle is too much offbeat, too irregular beat disrupts the consistent heart rate hence you don't get maximum mental and physical boost before your session. I'd definitelly rather go with D&B rather then jungle if i had no other choice.

Love the dnb flavas- a bit of pendulum goes nice, Andy c even better. The tunes you choose depend on the day, freestyle, waves or downwind cruise with mates.

I don't know what kind of Drum and Bass you listen to mate! Just spent last Friday at Fabric in London (Roni Size and Andy C were doing sets) and it was brutal! Nothing meditative or ambient about it! My ears are still ringing...

Yeah, forgot the Salmonella Dub. But, if you want to progress from there, you would have to add Tiki to that list. He went solo and put out his own album at the start of the year.

Can't go past some Rancid, Nofx and other punk tunes on the drive to the beach. Throw in the remixed versions of Bob Marley and stuff from his sons Damian, Stephen and Ziggy with a bit of pendulum, bob sinclair etc and it becomes bliss for my ears.
