After reading some of the horror stories about lancelin, a group of kiters from Pinnaroo, reluctantly ventured out today. We headed north of the town to the beach opposite the island.
20 knots, beautiful beaches, and not a disgruntled german in sight.

Without a doubt the best way to spend boxing day. We may not have daylight savings in WA, but man we live in Paradise!!!

Hey Todd,

Nice one! Wish I could have come too, looked great. The best spot to ride is South of the disgruntled Swiss/German at Edward Island Point. Flat water heaven and Werner can't say a thing. Can get congested though if there is more than 4 kiters on the flat spot.

Cheers,

KH

Hey Guys,

Coming up on the 28th, were is the best spot for waves, taking into account that most of my kiting is done in crappy Perth waves, so I can find my feet before venturing out to the bigger stuff.

Is there a spot where family and kids can play upwind from kiters safely while dad plays in waves downwind.

One more sleep, can't wait, it's like Christmas allover again.

Cheers
Rich

Lancelin has some wave spots (just check out some of other posts on seabreeze re. where not to kite), you could also try wedge island, but lano has at least some parks, shops etc for missus and kids etc, try WAKSA website for more info.

Hey mate. Me an my buddies did a downwinder from Ledge to the north side of Lano's. Good waves on a number of the outer reefs... Just watch out for all those wind surfer dudes at the pass an hole in the wall... If you smile an wait your turn they will give you a wave :) Just be aware some of those reefs are very shallow. One of the lads broke of a couple of fins his board... The surf was worth the risk of having to dodge all the wind surfers...(Back beach was cool fun
also)...

I'm really stoked that this post is here.
I actually have a good story about the poley's @ Lancelin.
My wife and I just got back from spending 4 awesome and windy days at Lancelin camping. I was in the flat water at the other end of lancelin. It was about 1300h and the wind was starting to crank at 23kn. I was on my wife's 10m kite and was determined to nail a slim chance that i have been so close to getting. I missed it and as I landed, something went snap.
When I surfaced i watched as the kite went into death loops as one of the front lines snapped. I pulled my chickenloop but it didn't help as something was snagged. I had no choice but to pull my final safety on my harness. My heart sank as I watch my wife's kite fly off towards all the moored boats to be torn up.
Suddenly a windsurfer traveling at the speed of light came screaming in and stopped and laid on the kite and held it there until I could swim back to land, run up the beach and swim out to him.
I couldn't have been more thankful to this guy. I was so apologetic and asked if I could buy him a carton for his efforts. He wouldn't have a bar of it. He just sped off, didn't ask for anything in return.
Well done mate. You have renewed my vigor for windsurfers.
Lancelin is a great spot and, like Keep Surfin said, as long as you give them curtsey, they do the same.
