Nice work and explanation of the buoyweather site Andy, i know im like a hundred other kiters around Auistralia who are constantly frustrated by the **** wind throughout the greater part of queensland. i know from my time living in Port Douglas youd get more good seesions travelling to Cooktown or Lizard on 4 random (more or less) weekends than you would in the other 48 weeks of the year put together. Man i just love it . I have now formed the opinion after a fantastic year of kiting in WA that the NQ coast north of about Hope Isles provide the highest number of 20 Kt days anwhere in Australia, cant wait for Lizard on the 19th, bring on the wind!!!

A few new images to add to the post from a recent trip to the far northern Great Barrier Reef. No kite gear unfortunately but we did have a heli

Got a chance to get close in to the peak at Dynamite Reef, which is on the outer edge just north of the Cod Hole. Waves weren't massive (2-4ft) and I was there near high tide, but I can confirm the wind direction is perfect crosshore, it was 20-25knots and looked like a fantastic kite spot. Will need a boat launch however.

Classic shot of the windward edge of Lizard Island taken from the helicopter. The wave playgrounds near Lizard Head (lower Right) and along the front between Bird Island and South Island (mid left) are clearly visible.

Lizard Island and Dynamite reef on the outer ribbons

The A-frame Dynamite peak, with a left reeling off.

A little set rolling over Dynamite peak.
