I've been there twice and the first time had some really windy days 30kts + at Le morne. Second time needed by 11 and 9 50/50. Le morne is THE spot by the way. Loads flat water and DTL waves at One eye and manoa. Read previous posts by searching this forum. Can look tame enough in the tropical sun but in fact this is a very Sketchy spot. Never seen it flat and when the swell is up the reef pass sucks you straight out to sea wherever you fall. Next stop Reunion. They have LOST and I mean LOST several windsurfers over the years never to be seen again.
Kite with a buddy who is good at towing and always let the rescue guys at the Indian resort know that you are going out. One aussie guy who goes every year tells me her carries his mobile in a waterproof bag as the waves, Manoa especially, are a long way out.
The resorts at le Morne are great if you have the money, if you are on a budget you can get apartments in La Goulet, a small village 5-10minutes from the beach. You will need a car but from memory we paid $200 for the car for 10 days and $500 for the apartment. I just googled private rentals and came up with a few. You will need to negotiate the price to get a good deal. Very much an Island of haves and have not, but the kiting is A+. Have fun.
It is on the 2do list - but did not realise it was that cold!!

best accomodation we found was here - behind the big mountain( one eye) and out of the wind. 4-5min walk to le morne (kitebeach). and about 1/4 of the price of the hotels on the beach and literally only 500m from them. all the guests there seemed to be kiters also. we rented a car but u can walk from here easily.
The guy Joacim that runs it is very helpful and can organise all your transfers from the airport to there etc and sort u out a car too when your there. the have a nice pool that has an insane view too! if i go back i'll definately stay there again. was about $450.00AUS for the week for myself. scored my own villa too but you pay per person and was quiet when we where there so we got a good price. take your surfboards- i reckon the surfing is way better than the kiting!
I'll second Ryland on the place to stay.. It was one of the nicest views and had the nicest host I've ever met. He'll take care of all the details for you and is really helpful for anything else you might need.. It was like being put up by a close mate.. Here's the view from our apartment.
ring kitethirlls, they are doing a trip there now, mike flew out today and will be home on the 29th, the guys at kitethrills be able to answer all your questions,
