That must be the one from the fisheries camera at Cathedrals hey? Back in December or so? That's when I got the video emailed to me anyway. Remind me to post or find it on youtube when I get back to town.
Yep I saw that vid Greenpat, I dont think diving or surfing will ever be the same at cathedrals.
Then again I don't think I've been for a dive since I started kiting and only a handful of surfs, there's that many sharks in WA i think my chances of outrunning them are better on a kite.
Nice work on the editing... I hope you can remove all the sharks from my photos as well... what you can't see can't hurt you...i say
You should go for a dive at Cathedrals (Rotto West End) it gets its name from a cave complete with pulpit and eerie light shafts coming in from above, at the right time of day, whilst your down there just pray you don't see this
I can't see streaming video while I'm on site, but I'll assume that's the vid I've been emailed.
I dunno, it would be a bit of a rush to see Carcharodon Carcharias up close and personal with no cage. One was sighted and photographed by a commercial dive group at Sodwana Bay where I used to kite, no cage or protection (except maybe divers knife?). The dive master reckoned it was great fun.
I'd love to go to Cathedrals, but I'm sure it's up to the skipper on the day.
I got up close and personal with one about 3-4 mtr on a dive charter at the Abrohlos once, I was diving on a coral bommie with a dropoff of about 30mtrs, I was on the bottom and came around a corner and there it was just at the edge of my peripheral vision. It was a weird, surreal experience, I stayed on the bottom with my back to the ledge (to scared to move) and just watched it cruising around just far enough away to be able to see it and I sensed the whole time he was just checking me out too , strangely I didn't really feel that threatened. I still surfaced pretty fast when he'd left though and spent most of the rest of the four day charter fishing.
P.S. I've happen to have some scuba pro dive gear for sale.
Its a real picture with the canoe. When the sharks go there they dont do much eating at all. They are calm and non agressive.
