I know this has been out there before, but...
Any ideas on where to find some good sound tracks for kiting movies?
I am finding that shooting the video and editing are the easy bits, finding a soundtrack that suits the footage is much harder.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Cheers

Seriously anything by Citizen King on their Better Days album is sweeeetttt!
These arent the official flicks as u can tell; but actual music.
I've Seen Better Days- Citizen King
The music dictates the style of the "cut", for instance fast tempo music suites fast cuts where as a slower song might have some dissolves thrown in. Really you should be selecting the track before you start cutting and then cut to the beat.
Totally agree that the music dictates the style of the "cut". That's what makes editing so hard. If you can't find some decent music it is hard to edit the footage properly.

Hey AB,
I reckon 'Lenny Kravitz, Fly Away' Should go well with a big air clip.
Also, 'Feeder, High' would be a good intro, outro or false bay session.
There's a plethora of freebie (mostly instrumental) MP3 mixes at djfez - I think trance (or progressive) would work best (more mellow) - Angus Gibbons seems to have the art mastered - Australia is currently internationally acclaimed as leading the field in DJ trance and progressive mixes. Also checkout the Kranky Digital mixes at the same site --> http://mixes.djfez.com/mixes/index.php
I found the DJFez site while browsing the local WA InTheMix web site for PT music - here --> www.inthemix.com.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=36 - but there's lots of other mixes in all sorts of styles. InTheMix forums has many links to recent mixes. Great place to start looking.
I gotta say the intensity of emotion evoked by some of this stuff is like up there with the absolute geniuses of music. Its sort of the musical equivalent of a footballer taking a catch by jumping off another player. Absolutely stunning.
Each mix is about 1-3 hours.
Hi AB,
I guess mostly would be the tempo you want to reflect from your Video footage.
A kite clip that impressed me was of Ruben Lenten, filmed by Susi Mai.
It was composed of many slo-mo sequences and was edited to Snowy White's Bird in Paradise.
The music is of an older era, but fits excellently with the laid back feel of the Vid.
Don't discount artists such as Pink Floyd etc. and even (shock horror to some) classical pieces.....Its all about best fit. (classical would certainly be different to most contemporary kiting video footage). "Bitter Sweet Symphony" comes to mind, written by Keith Richards & Mick Jagger.
An example would be, slow motion footage, to Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" or " Novacaine for the Soul" by Eels.
if you have footage of the Cab riders (read Geoff & Croc) from Adelaide next weekend maybe you could infill with a chorus from Kings of Leon song "4 kicks"
The lyrics fit, especially the bit about "You with your switchblade posse"
I'll PM you with some other suggestions later.

how could you not include Killing In the Name Of by Rage! The highs, the lows, the trials, the tribulations.........
Hey. Got two tickets up for grabs for Coconet Classic due to change of plans. Now going to Melbourne for Easter but give me a reply if you're interested.
