Yes I agree the symmetrical rocker on the wave does make it feel more like a tt but it kills a tt in surf, riding toe on the surf fins you can smash the wave like a SB without the arse end of the board letting go and you can do it with way more speed, the most amazing thing about the board is how it rides backwards it is so easy and smooth ,you can absolutely blast along like on a tt heel side into the face of a wave and flick the board round onto toe in an instant and carve the face it's an unreal ride ,grin factor is off the charts.
hey radman. i need to ride that cb at some stage so i can tweek for mutant gen 2.
thinking about a himatangi to waikanai run (70km down winder for you aus blokes) playing in the waves ..... mmmh. been thinking about that run for a while.
Most waves come with chop so I don't see the point...but glad ya stoked.
Smaller version...mmm yeh I have thought the same thing from time to time, but I would say smaller sizes would move you more towards the TT end of the spectrum. The Cb wave can be edged like a TT but nowhere near as good at the limits of your kite. It planes very easily. When my bro can't plane, with same kite, same conditions on his 135 TT I can plane, and even do a down winder.
I agree with radman, buying soon a TT for crazy balls to the walls conditions, have a sector 54 for the light stuff, and didn't even contemplate moving on the Wave. Even in moderate winds (compared to kite size), and flat conditions I will still convert it to a decent TT by taking the thrusters out and putting in a couple of TT fins. If swell is a little higher, sloppy crap, two of the side thruster fins just put in (looser feel for more TT stuff but still surfable). When cranking out comes the three fins. Even have ridden it like the makoish setup with the middle thruster that is fun as. Very versatile board for that.
Had my plummutant out in 30-40 knots in crazy conditions. It loved it. I was even getting floaty airs on the little 6 reo. When you start gliding on that kite you know its WINDY.
I wonder if its the more rounded corners??!!! i'm not sure but my old katana TT which this is partly shapped from also loved insane wind and held crazy power.
Going TT style the mutant is as good as my katana for holding power. on the mutant side it can hold more power.
What i have noticed when i have ridden squarer tipped TT's is that they can hold down as much power through chop.
Yeh that could be it, the CB wave has fairly rounded tips...mmm
waiting for the first plummet production!
When ya sell ya shinn have a go on the CB wave. I load up big time backwards( mm that's funny with reference to our earlier discussion ), actually can load up better in some sense. Yeh I tried the shinn before the cb wave, not in the same league man, but probably bites a bite more thrusters at the back and does carve very nicely in the waves. Also boosts big and is good in the waves....lol. In the mutant sense anyhow, apparently the boards in the other range are awesome.
^^^^^thats what everyone on here told me about the shinn's.lol
Yeah, each to their own, what some love others hate. Just my opinion.
Sorry if i missed it earlier but anyone wanna comment on Ocean Rodeo Makos? 140 or 150cm?
I'm more inclined to a centred TT rather than a mutant. Boy i was tempted by the CB Wave tho. I'm 85 pies (kgs) and have been riding a 150 LF Proof. Onshore waves, basic big boosts and ocean downwinders are my thing. Upwind not really a factor.
Love the LF Proof shape still but want something lighter. Happy to keep my 150 LF if 140 Mako gets going in 18+ kts.
I have a 5'2 NRG Hawaii epoxy sandwich Mutant it's the best but not to many around.Tried all other boards but this is the one.
I linked to this on a previous mutant thread. Its got some reasonable mutant lip smacking.

those are some nice old school vids. i like them. jumping off ships and cliffs. boosting some waves! nice.
I have the Ocean Rodeo mako 140 and king 165. My style would be more freeride than freestyle, weight around 80kgs & 48yr. The bottom concave and longitudinal curve make for a sensational smooth ride in even the choppiest conditions. I have the king set up with a deck pad and straps in a surf style. The fin set up is tri fin one end and front single centre fin. This set up lets you surf and when needed you can still ride heel side to let the legs rest. The bottom curve keeps the front fin out of the water until needed. Kiting mates all love to take the both of the makos out for a spin when I'm not using them. Wish someone would sell them in Oz, had to get mine from the US. These boards are great on joints & easy to turn for old fellas like me!
Since there isn't many vids for mutants we need to make some!!. come on mutant lovers strapon a gopro and upload some lovin!
You first. Wanna see the new 2013 plummet in action before I put my order in. Lol.
Try a take the piss out of the normal marketing crapola we see. Now that would be funny.
I've had a go of the ocean rodeo mako the only problem is they are
A bit to wide good for choppy conditions. But for bottom hand turns
A bit hard to dig the rail in compare to the nrg hawaii epoxy sandwich.
PLUMMET will put photo up of of nrg tomorrow.
