The new water kite from Peter Lynn has been announced.... to have a look go herehttp://www.peterlynnproducts.com/news/news016.html
It certainly looks nice....
Hopefully for one thing they have sorted out production of them .
It looks to me that they have continued the tip to the trailing edge (Guerilla 10 ) and incorpoprated a bridle on the tip (personally I think that the longer tip engaging the TE is a good thing) .I have had reports from one of their riders in Europe that they have found faster turns and more bottom end .It looks lower AR than the venom .this should result in better wave performance also (Will be interesting to see)
It will be interesting to see how they have figured the sizing of them .I laid an 11 m waroo over the 13 m and they are pretty much the same size .I then measured the 13 correctly and it came out at a whopping 11.5 sq m (no wonder they are down a bit on power for their size)This when I have been riding them for 4 years and had never really bothered to measure them)
The designers have also worked on the trailing edge to find more power .It will be interesting to see how the power/depower ratio gos (again for waveriding )
I am sure they will have the float /ease etc that punters on the venoms like
Price ?Well lets hope they are competitive .The scorpion was too expensive for a twin skin with a little bridle added for an extra $150 retail per size over the venom 2.
Well we all hope that the spar issues have fianlly been resolved .the carbon ones split and alloy split and broke too easily .Perhaps a minor distraction but they're not cheap to replace at $70 retail.
I have been using fibreglass folding tent poles for years and they are great .and $10 bucks for a set at any camping store. I have suggested they look at that .We'll see if they took any notice
This project has been kept under wraps for ages .Not sure why but here's hoping some kites get here soon .
As soon as I try one I'll write down my thoughts and the thoughts of the multiple venom waveriders here lookin for performance that doesn't involve pumps and bladders
(I'm sure Aron Jarman will be keen to know as well ,Not that it would make any difference to the man from outer space)
I forgot to mention that returning the tip going all the way to the TE will improve relaunch .The G10 and arc were a cinch on the of odd occasion they crashed .perhaps reverse launch is possible again .Would be good
Yea I would not mind hearing the opinion of someone who actually owns and uses one of these kites (rather than ill informed slagging).
The kite has not been released yet so info on how it performs is scarce...however a team rider called GUNNAR reckons it has more power and lowend than the latest C kites with more range and depower aswell...and also out performs the curent Venom..
Have a look on www.arcusers.com for more info....
as soon as they are available I will have access to a demo on the Sunny Coast.
PM me for details. Looks like mid December at this stage.
