Hi Everybody,

As you may or may not be aware, I am organising the Ball's Pyramid to Lord Howe Island Kitesurf Challenge 8th to 15th September 2013 at Lord Howe Island. The attached press release gives details of the event. This Charity event is to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

Your assistance in publicising this event by any means you have at your disposal would be greatly appreciated. Mediums such as your website, your blog or your facebook page could be used to help get our message out. I am keen to get this event totally neutral, with the prime focus being the cause.

A few details that shocked me about this disease.

Around 20,000 new cases of Prostate Cancer are diagnosed every year in Australia. Tragically one man every three hours will lose his battle against this insidious disease. This has effected my family, close friends & the people around me. Sadly this is a disease that is often ignored.

Our aim is to Promote Awareness & Raise Funds. These funds will be used to research the causes & treatment of Prostate Cancer & provide support to Prostate Cancer victims.

We are registered fundraisers for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia our event code is NSW-13-16

Our goal is to :-

Seek sponsorship for a small group of Kite Surfers to kite across open ocean from Ball's Pyramid to lord Howe Island approximately 20 to 30 nautical miles.
Hold a Lord Howe Island Fish BBQ Lunch Fundraiser sponsored by The Lord Howe Island Chamber of Commerce, Pinetrees Lodge & Greenback Fishing & Scenic Tours. All Proceeds from the BBQ Lunch to the PCFA foundation.
Promote "Prostate Cancer Awareness" amongst Lord Howe Island Community, it's visitors and the Wider Community.
Here are a few links that can be used if you decide you would like to assist. I have also attached some low res photographs.

This looks like a great event in a stunning location.

What would make absolutely fantastic is if we could organise a couple of yacht and sail over there with all our gear, kite, and sail back as part/extension of the event? Any takers with a yacht?
Unfortunately I haven't bought my Schionning yet.

That would be a good place to leave for Lord Howe. About 420Nm, could be done in about 2 days on a fast cat. But a bit short notice to organise experienced crew and yachts. But something I'll think about for a future event for kiters that sail.
Sorry for hijacking it Davo but at least it got a bump.

Ok this is the prostate cancer awareness part guys!

What are the symptoms of prostate cancer? They may include one or more of the following:
????Waking frequently at night to urinate
????Sudden or urgent need to urinate
????Difficulty in starting to urinate
????Slow flow of urine and difficulty in stopping
????Discomfort when urinating
????Painful ejaculation
????Blood in the urine or semen
????Decrease in libido (sex urge)
????Reduced ability to get an erection

Sadly this is a disease that is often ignored, so if you are concerned see you GP. And no I am not a GP, I am someone who has had family, a close friend & the people around me affected by this insidious disease.

An interesting article demonstrating the history of challenging events Ball's Pyramid has presented. Some great photos which will give you some of the difficulties Ball's Pyramid climbers faced. I would like to thank one of those climbers "Dick Smith" who has demonstrated his support for our Charity Event from the onset. The Ball's Pyramid to Lord Howe Kitesurf Challenge and other Island events occur next week 8 to 15 Sep. Please join us and support the Prostate cancer foundation of Australia.
