Cool, new vid's and kids ripping on raceboards, future maybe but us old guys have time up our sleeves :)
Col great to hear you've been on it, should come and have a hit with us on the lake to dial in some of the tacks, gybes etc.
We have been out last two days swapping gear and helping each other to learn.
plus helping to get in when wind is so light even a 19m falls out of the sky..
Footage to come..
ps to date 3 duck tacks done. but I won't lay claim to doing them untill I can do three in a row.. Other wise it's just luck..
Nice to see we have pic's now of nearly all the main brands, I think we are missing Cabrinha? Does Ozone do a board?
What a pic of the Alex? or Mike's boat shed?
full certified board list is here, good place to start when comparing spec on each race board - some big differences in weight.

Ric, you so ahead of the times.
Mitch & I gonna join in the raceboy/girl fun in Botany when i'm down there. Just need a light wind kite, and maybe a Sector........... my birthday is coming up, now just need to convince my olds that $2000 is a fair price to pay for their only daughter's 30th birthday!!!
Its very thick for light airs, and here is a sneak peak after the first epoxy/glass.
measurements are 1900x700
Most companies have a narrower four fin board as well as the three fin wider full tilt race board.
When people say they are getting easier to sail I think they are getting used to riding them.
I still believe you not only need to be able to ride the wide boards but to get the most out of them have very good control of both board and kite combination,
I have some more footage going up shortly of our last play sessiion on the lake in 6 knts gusting to 12 knts, on 16m and 19m kites on both the vector and the 2011 north. you'll see a few crashes and how hard to get going the board can be..'
Essa, Vector sells for $1199.00 so much cheaper then the bigger boards, when are you moving down and we will get you out demoing the boards so you can compare them..
Also will have the New north 2012 in march to compare it as well.
Jordan I love it looks so sick and futuristic, Can't wait to see you in action on it, do you have fins??
I have two sets if you have a tuttle base in the board, moght be able to borrow a set for racews, if we get breeze.
Cheers Dave
Thanks Dave, But Ill be building my own fins as well. Im thinking of making a 40cm set to start off with? That Tuttle system is quite hard to manufacture into a board, so Im going to use my own system I used to use on radio control yachts (cool right). Wont be ready for quite a while still, but Ill see you on Saturday with the 2010 Underground. And a quick plug for Kite power, awesome repair job guys on my 14m, thanks!
Narrower board is faster downwind and on long reaches but not as fast upwind.
So if you have a course which has less upwind leg and more down wind or cross wind, will be quicker on the narrower board.
The wider boards are for hammering upwind and driving off the larger fins..
Here is that little vid..
good to see so much discussion on this . Course racing has really interested me , now to perfect duck tacks
Took out daves north ltd and had a blast today. Had 14-17 and was using a 12mtr rebel. Finally got comfortable on the rail. Made alot of difference having stable wind. Not getting close to the duck tack but having fun trying. Ric was killing the tacks on the underground. Looks like we will have some killer racing lakeside once the new boards arrive.
It's a sector 60
There were a couple of moths out today after you left, so couldnt resist seeing how the two compare.
Using the sector 60 and the 14 rally I was quite surprised that although they had me at outright pointing by a couple of degrees, once they came off the breeze a little to my angle they didnt really get away at all
One of the guys kept turning around to see me still hanging in beside him, the last look was a big smile as he new I was on for young (thats him) and old (thats me)
They have some awsum stacks like we do
Actually looking forward to having a race with other fast sail craft around a coarse on the lake once I get tacking better and can complete a jyb
Canton is full of weed, twin tips would kill it..
I actually think Squids this winter we should have an unoffical race series using a few marker bouys which are constant, could even follow the wa example of doing gps or time trials. I'll post a picture when I have the time.
Wild and woolly westerly racing :)
Myn2 cents worth.
I have ridden both the cab and north race 2011 59's. Both in quads. The North was easy to ride it required less rail control and was good upwind. Off wind and down wind it topped out quickly. You can feel it get caught on the thicker fin foils. But it has a wide stable nose for down wind in swell.
The cab off wind and downwind Feels miles faster. It never seems to top out, it just keeps going faster and faster, and if you are game enough to reach off wind it is crazy. . Tail walking like a good slalom board. It definitely was harder to ride though, it seemed to catch edges easier in the ocean (where I do all my riding).
Overall for a competent rider I'd say confidently that the cab is quite a bit faster.
For better or for worse I just sold my cab 59 to get a 69. But wholly crap, how dear are the frigging things now! Anyone looking for a team rider for nationals??? :)
