K so say i had a 2010 jaime pro and wanted to put ronix divide boots on it how would i go about this? would i need a adapter plate or some sort or do ronix boots have the same spacing? The board has 165cm(6.5") hole centers
Ronix use 6". If you want bindings for a 6.5" mounting you could use the 2010 LF kiteboard bindings. Don't use the 2011, they're also 6"
why do they have to make it so awkward. so basicaly i have the choice of synergys or unions? are the 09's still a 6.5 spacing?
^^Because they have only recently started singing off the same sheet. Prior to 2010 kiting was 6.5" spread, be thankful that they have finally "standardised" things.
If you are determined to put Ronix boots on that board the only thing you can do is put in new t-nuts in your board or design a spacer. You can't drill the base plate in the Ronix boots as there's not enough room.
you should read that topic properly... as you will see it will probably not solve the problem. That guys inserts were spaced an odd distance apart (intead of the stock inch) so it allowed him to make a hole wider and use effectively something like a 7 and 1/8th inch spread.
should work on a cardboard, just measure it up, if its 6inch spread you are good to go. Or if ordering just email Dan and tell him that you want it to fit bindings.
To be honest, a Jaime pro is probably not ideal for bindings anyway so you may want to consider a binding specific board.
1. Cabrinha Custom (fits Ronix)
2. 2011 Liquid Force - LFX, DLX, Influence (fits Ronix)
3. 2011 Slingshot (fits Ronix)
4. Cardboard Tempo
Generally speaking, these boards are designed to be ridden in bindings. The general boards are a little flat in the rocker and probably too small for bindings.
It probably will solve the problem as those pics are of the board that doonut is asking about, North Jamie 2010
i like my small board easy to monover, i weigh 63kg and ride a 129x39 is this going to be a problem if i put bindings on? on a 7m vegas and considering buying a 9m for less windy days. anyone know if LF unions are heavyish
Width is probably the biggest issue. If you try put it on a board thats only 39 wide your feet are going to be ducked outwards too much with your toes pointing towards the corner of the board. Most of the binding boards are 42 wide to cater for the size of the bindings.
Second issue is stance. Binding boards generally have a wider stance.
Third issue is that non-binding boards inserts are often not reinforced for bindings which increases the likelihood that you'll pull out the board inserts.
Fourth issue is that the rocker on most binding boards is about 2.5", non binding boards are way less.
Last issue is board size. Even at your weight, you probably still want 135 on a binding board. Most wake riders would use 135 to 143 depending on their weight. The bindings take up a lot of room (particularly with wide stances) so it'll feel like your feet are falling over the front of the board.
People are normally scared of large boards coming from straps but a binding board feels a lot smaller than it is with bindings on. Thats why boards like the Slingshot Darkside only come in 142 and the Naish binding board is a 138.
hhhmmmm that kinda sucks ay sounds like this could start to get expensive. Or i could get some bindings give it a shot n if it fails then buy another board.
Bindings take a bit of getting used to. Do you know anyone you can borrow a board from for a week to try out?
^^^ Who cares.
This is awesome, finally a day has arrived where more than one person knows something about boots on here haha.
Charls right, you'll have to go the 2009 LF kite boots.
I can fit my 2010 Ronix's on my Nobile boards, But I had to modify the plate a little on the insides to get my stance right.
You can also use the supplied ronix bridges to make them work with normal kite board spacing and Off-set.
Its interesting to see how Slingshot have gone this year with their boots. A bottomless binding with the binding base on the inner itself so you can walk to the water over rocks in the insert.
They reckon it makes the boots ultra light but they don't give actual weights to its difficult to compare to the dry weight of the Ronix. In some respects its nice to see the guys trying new ideas (even if they don't work in some cases) to push the progression of boots.
i dont like those removable inners.. mine always came out of the boot on hard crashes..
you CAN NOT modify the bridges supplied to fit 6.5 spacing as the next hole along is too far for the bridge to reach, and the right hole is halfway under the baseplate's edge.
Here's how the bridges look with the Std 6" spacing on the nobiles, The issue was the inserts being offset from the centre line to allow for normal kite straps. You would have to run Heaps of Duck to get them to fit without modifying the base plate or using a bridge.
