With Slave on this one.
I am sure shops love one pump. God knows they have made a small fortune from me buying replacement valves.

Exactly what have you had to buy?
A one pump (slingshot anyway) actually only has two valves, inflate and deflate.
As opposed to 5 or more valves with multi pump.

If it was other parts of a one pump system that you have had to buy, what and why?
Did they fail from design fault or damage due to accident?

If it is the nipples coming off the bladder, that can happen whether it's one pump or multi pump! and that is a flaw in the manufacturing process not in the one pump design.

doesn't best still make kites without one-pump?

Some models in the BEST range are multi-pump, and some are one-pump.
I fly Kahoonas cause they are multi-pump.

Yep, and the new V4 comes with the choice, they did this with the waroos in 2010.
Personally I dont care, you still pump up the kite and put the same amount of air in it. As far as inserting the leading edge, Steve is spot on, one pump creates more reference points to insert correctly.
The main issue I had to fix was people popping thier struts after re-insertion. The trick is to fold the bladder inside itself neatly all the way to the valve. When you slowly blow it up it will pop perfectly to the leading edge at a couple of psi, then massage it into place.

The main issue is pressure required to get the right shape.
The 07 Rebel is multi - and getting the struts pumped to pressure is a breeze. LE 8 psi strut 10 psi. It is easier wrapping up.
Most kites use one or more struts to hold a deeper camber and with one pump it feels as though the LE is about to burst before the strut shapes up - to get the strut shape it would be easier with higher PSI in the strut than the LE.

My youngster is practically doing a handstand on the pump to get 8 psi into his kite - he weights in at 54 kgs - He gets me to finish off - I weight 70kgs so do not want any higher pressure designs coming out - I cant handstand anymore

It's very thoughtful of Naish to supply a pacifier for when you are repairing and dicking around with their retarded one-pump inflation system. lol.

Fck it...
Slave, if valves are such a big issue, why not use Ram-air kites????
Also eliminates the need for carrying & maintaining a pump

Am I the only one that thinks Waveslave has an arrangement with this website to generate traffic/extra activity by posting topics to stir people up like this?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
It's a good strategy

Ok terminology difference (valves / nipples) but:

It's the 'nipples' that tear around the circumference due to the excess pressure exerted by the tubes (Connecting LE to strut) flapping around on impact.

Now that's an odd sentence……

Anything that tugs or pulls on one piece of plastic that is glued to another is inherently a bad design and a point of failure.

Is the one-pump inflation system just another form of planned-obsolescence ?
One-pump is the rust in kitesurfing.
When your one-pump f#cks up badly, you just go and buy another kite, right ?
Why would you even attempt to fix up something that's way too much hassle ?
lol.
And yeah,
we all shifted to one-pump ...
cause the choice was taken away.
One-pump is a deliberate scheme to limit the useful life of a kite.

there is sweet fanny adams difference between having 5 or 6 inflation and dump valves in a kite with a lot of seperate inflation points or a kite with 9 of the same and a couple of tubes added.

if an inflation point fails it needs to be fixed.

i don't get the whole point of this fantastic discussion.

whoops, forgot about the naish system!

"Dude, check out my new single-strut wavekite."

"Wow man, has it got one-pump?"

"Are you kidding me, dude? It's a goddamn single-strut kite."

"What if it was a two-strut kite, man. Would you want one-pump?"

"Is this a trick question, dude?"

"What about a three-strut kite, man. Would you want one-pump?"

"Dude, don't even ask me about a quad-strut kite, ok?"

Actually the option hasnt been taken away.
The Best Kahoona V4 is coming out with the option built into the range.
Your choice - V4 Kahoona multi pump OR V4 Kahoona one pump.
Awesome all round kite for just about everyone.

YEP - prelim advise says you can save $150 if you choose the (obviously best) option of multi pump.
Funny that a kite co. would make the less obsolescent option; lets scam the buying public; cheaper rather than dearer.
According to Slaveys breakdown the multi-pump should be the dearer option
OMG Im so confused.
