Hi all
I spent the last 2 weeks of August on the Cocos Islands last year and had a fantastic time. Looking to do a similiar trip this year but not sure where best to go.
I'm not really into riding waves so would be looking for some flat water spots. Nice warm conditions and reliable wind is a must.
A mate went to Fiji around the same time last year and loved it. Others have said it's not all that great. Could do Cocos again or could just head up to far NE QLD, New Caledonia or anywhere else within reason from Sydney. Decisions decisions...
So any recommendations on where to go this year? All advice welcome as planning this trip is going to help get me through the cold winter months ahead.
Hey Yea i also want to do a August trip somewhere - any good ideas - I like the idea od coccas islands, but $$$$ is a little factor....so Nigaloo you say????
try PNG if you really want a kiting adventure. virgin flys up 3x a week from brissy or take airlines PNG from cairns.
do a week in FNQ then go to PNG for an extra 3 or 4.
Hi Howie,
You deserting us then? Slacker I'll be there all of August.
I went to Fiji with Tony (Ral Inn) a couple of years back. The island and accommodation are excellent. Warren was a great host. The wind is reliable and I found on average it's stronger than Cocos. You will need to learn to boat launch. It's easy the way Tony taught me. It can be very flat but not as consistently flat as the lagoon on Cocos.
I'm heading off in my caravan April 27, Will be travelling to the NW via Alice & Darwin and then down the WA coast through June and July. Not exactly ideal time for kiting I guess but fingers crossed. Hoping for some good winds around Ningaloo.

cocos may be hard to get to now due to the airline going belly up so do your home work before blowing your $
The government has re-let the contract to National Jet / Cobham Airways. It's only a 6 month contract but that gets me home August 31.
The amazing thing is that the airfares are now cheaper!
Well, by home I really just mean back to Perth August 31.
Provided the crocs don't get me.
Tony, You didn't mention the stone fish or the sharks.
