While I'm here in Vic sitting out the wind drought, friends in NZ have been doing some snow kiting, thinking I might take up the offer and go over next year and have a go.

I have just been kiting in Northern Germany for 4 days and it was freezing already, they still kite during winter in dry suits but they invited me to go snow kiting with them because its far warmer. I think it looks awesome, although the landing could be much harsher if you don"t have fresh powder

I LOVE kiting. And I LOVE snowboarding. But have to say a chairlift would be a far better option anyday. But would love to give it a go someday. Your right, landings could be a bit of a worry.

I just got back from a six week snowboarding trip to chile and managed to get in a good week of snowkiting. Ive been snowboarding for ages but nothing beats the feeling snowkiting can give u in the right conditions. Also the ability to explore non accessible areas that the rest of the chair crew cannot get to (ie fresh runs all day)...

here is a short clip our friends in chile put together after only a few days of riding.

the manta2 I used is a awesome kite for freeriding if ur looking to get into snowkiting. so easy to pack away and launch/land at the top of gusty mountains.

Great Video, loved the bit towards the end when you were riding at dusk, whats the rig at 3.30? why do you have that on your lines and your safety connected to it

It serves a few purposes on a ram air foil.
Reverse landing, securing the kite on the ground and it's one option for a safety which deploys the brakes.

can you, (of course) how hard is it to track back up summit? Or is it done mainly on the flat peaks.

Snowboarded two days last hols for first time - awesome, and awesomely cold! Still a close third to surfing then kiting.
