Im going to Papua next week for 11 days. I am looking for some waves to surf and kite. I am only hanging on the south coast as im only there for 11 days. I know Sera beach is good for kiting, but does anyone know of any waves? surly the south swell hits the reefs on the southern coast?

Mate I think the surfing is mainly up on the north coast during the summer.
The trade winds hit the lower coast in our winter so it's blown out from what I can find.

I am sure a couple of locals will reply here, but Hula is supposed to be good for kiting.
THere is also a PNG surf association or something like that so do a search for info

These guys also do kite trips, I will be on one in August/september
SOme are from Port Moresby and some from outer islands

Hey man

You will find some waves at Sero beach. The launch beach is not easy but once you are 50 m off the beach you are in clean wind.

Sero is also where you will find the surf club.. They are out there Saturday and Sunday mornings and will be happy to look after you.

Best waves are out on the outer reef. Big effort to get out there but you will be rewarded.

Hula is the best place for wave riding. Some great down the line conditions there.

Pm me when you are In town and I'll point you in the right direction.

Jason
