... he took movie line "ya gunna need a bigger boat" quit literarlly, yeah its a 55 foot catamaran, rig coming. Jalan Jalan meaning travel, journey ect was launched yesterday and will be living in Darwin at the moment but will travel to Bali (so long as rig turns up in time) for our next kite trip to Sanur.

I think the caption for previous pic should have read "ya gunna need a bigger paddle there Tone"!

Anyway here's a couple more pics:

In the shed:

Ready for the truck:

On the road:

Don't drop it:

Looks like it floats:

Going out the lock:

Ready for the high seas:

So how was the building process? Cost, time?

Was it built by a company?

Definition is walking or to walk (I think)

So "Jalan jalan saja" = Just walking or literally "Walking only"

Very nice Tony.
Can't wait to see it in real life.
Do you reckon it will be in Bali mid July?

... google translate say its "the road" but I think its open enough to us 'euros' to mean travelling and journey somewhere, but if I know Tone its looking for wind and waves! :)

... mid July is the plan but its relying on the rig turning up last time I heard! :)

Another kite mate (Bike) should be there too, his is a mono hull and not so 'taj mahal' as Tone's!

That is a fantastic boat Tony, Looks like a Schoinnings Cosmos... This is a boat I worked on for RMK Marine in Melbourne called the Oceanic. Its a 40ft Cat... It comes in a pre made Kit boat for $150,000 or so... I built this one for the Andrew who has retired surfing in the Cook Islands... Great Boat

Ok well my home owner plans have now taken a back-seat. $150,000 sounds reasonable for a boat.

My guess is that by the time you rig it and fit it with all the nice electronic toys that'll double

Surely if you harvested your children for all their organs, you might have enough money for a boat?

Hi guys, sorry been out of the loop for a bit for the last few days... Busy coming to terms..... (and fixing things...).
Thanks for putting the pics up Robbie, ( and for taking them!)...
Currently sitting on the bow basking in the ambience, ( and havin a beer!)
Its a Schionning waterline 1480, that got stretched a bit to give slightly more load capacity.
Jalan jalan is pretty much travel or wander etc, ie, jalan jalan, lihat lihat... Wandering around gawking
As long as the rig guys do their thing in time we will be heading to indo late june, then prob malaysia or thailand for our wet ( cyclone ) season.
Game on!

Yep from $150,000 Putting on a rig is $60,000 and Sails and engines and water maker and solar and the list goes on. But if you want to make one in half the time and do it yourself its a good option. Look I am a boat builder and I use other clients yachts its way cheaper... I cant afford one yet but I love to dream... Cool Tony fast cat...
