A good friend is getting paid to research the future of sport in Australia. He reckons there is trend toward pointless sports. He's asked for my opinion.

What do you reckon?

Will wave SUPing or razor scootering be a sport in the Rio 2016 Olympics? Why?

if we want to know the future of sup, we should look at goat boats as an example

Which brings to mind a question;

Why are there no surf ski or bodysurfing forums on Seabreeze to cater for the throngs of participants in these aquatic disciplines?

SUP is already bigger than kiting.

Same person attracted to both: opinionated pseudo tech heads, unco, wealthy, never wrong, sooks.

Therefore the future is SUP.

Kiters don't get less whiny as they age! Soon you will all SUP.

I believe that SUP will evolve by equipment improvements.
Importantly I believe that the standard SUP will evolve into two crafts which are more specialised and provide highly improved performance in their respective areas.

The lack of paddling speed may result in a streamlined craft that may look something like this:

The lack of Manoeuvrability while surfing a wave may result in a shorter, lighter design which may look something like this:

Lets get honest.

when we talk evolution. its obvious that things evolve out of the water and progress to land.

SUP is not only waves.. I'm sure that Flat water SUP is already bigger then SUP in the wave!
The Boss of a famous Surf brand one day told me: Remember Jankie! There are about 600.000 surfer in the world BUT there are more then 2 millions rowers...

Bye Jankie

Yeah, he's been kinda quiet over here since the 'kiters carnt' post. Maybe he's still on that bender. Ahhhh, KOTP, now there's a guy who can heat up a discussion and isn't afraid to threaten people with violence - old school.

No wind, no waves, what's the point of that?

Seems a conservative estimate, I'm sure there were more guys than that hassling the peak at Chungu last time I checked it there.
