My first reason for kiting was to get over a fear of sharks i have had for 20 years and to get into a watersport. Well f""" the sharks now they can eat what they can catch. WHAT A SPORT

i got into kiting because it looked like something cool to tell people (girls). And a few years later i still love telling people(girls)

Has that worked for you yet? Hasn't for me.

I kite because it's my happy place.

I dont know mate but i reckon most kiters are proud of the fact that they are involved in such a spectacular sport. The fact that we have such a presence on the water is probably part of the reason that kiting has grown so quick . If you believe in darwinism and the peakock theory then I might be onto something.

You might be onto something, but most people I know think that I'm craaay..aaay...aaay..zy.

It generates interest at first but after the twenty-seventh time it just irritates them. With some groups of friends they just ban me from talking about kiteboarding for the night before we even get to the pub.

They'd obviously prefer to talk about knitting then... like my woosy mate who has a brand new harness (used once) and shakes like a little girl when I mention him getting a lesson...

I find now it clears my mind of the troubles of the world. very medatative.
Then i do some dangling and go home.

Yeh I gotta say I love how quiet it is when you're around 200m out, facing the open ocean, there is such a temptation to just not turn back to shore , or just to start singing random songs... hoping noone can hear you . Does anyone else do this? I only do it when Im really stoked, but I remember I used to do it sailing too ... am I normal... no

Sometimes I even go the air-guitar!

It's always a bit embarrassing if you forget to stop when you get back on the beach...
