You would be kidding yourself to say surfers don't do the same thing. I always hear them
complaining about boogers, mals, stand up goat boaters. Not
to mention dropping in etc. Then there is the whole debate towing in vs paddling in. Sure there is opinion on the forum but rarely do I see angst on the water.

Seen guys rip strapped and unstrapped it is more the rider than the equipment. Even Ben Wilson acknowledges the top strapped crew rip. Different strokes etc.
