I was on a train yesterday about 10:30 heading past Leighton and saw some guy close to shore body dragging back towards his board. Probably the same guy kiting alone in an off shore wind.

I watched a guy with SB and SS Rally, may have been the same guy.......seemed competent..........but Leighton was not the place to be......and the weeds look nasty. I had a very crappy kite on 7m at Woodies. That kite is going back in the shed for months

Yeah he actually looked pretty good. Relaunched it and dropped it a few more times. He ended up kiting down past leighton an making it to the beach.

Looked like he even hit a lip Or two on his way in.

Still risk outweighed the reward I think

When we have the great summers that we do here in WA why risk doing stuff like that , on your own to make it worse , doesnt matter how good you are ....

It did look nice yes but common sense dictates otherwise ! .

Sure make your own decisions, just remember, if you go out in public and make dumb decisions for all too see, be prepared for the criticism that follows.

Yep, I hear the downwinder from Perth to Madagascar is incredible at this time of year... Plenty of ocean to play in and if you're lucky you might get a few waves in at Le Morne in Mauritius on the way...

Q What is the first rule of kitesurfing that is taught to you?

A Don't go out in offshore wind, unless you have boat support.

Would have been awesome conditions, 20-30knots offshore, flat water.
Mental to go out without a jetski or something as backup though! if you can't make it back, and you miss rottnest, something will eat you for sure!

Maybe he was working on the container ship and was 5km upwind of his launch site off the top container?

fair enough people should mind their own business but hes gonna give kiting a bad name if he had to be rescued by sea rescue.
