Does anyone know of any local (prefer W.A. ) kitemaker or sailmaker,
who would copy a 2003 "c" shape.
I am old style and prefer the older shape to any that i have tried in later
models.
Its a matter of personal preferance and would pay to have a newly made kite
that i know i will like, rather than buy a new one off the shelf. I have already bought later models and dont like the way they fly,.

you could try Nathan from New Kites, maybe he would sew you up a kite, but I recon you will be up for at least twice what you pay for a kite off the rack.

Try Neil at Hold the Line Kites (www.kite.net.au/)

He's very approachable and reasonably priced. Don't let all the info on stunt kites put you off. He's a kite surfer himself (even if it's a doona) and has done heaps of repairs on SLE kites.

Cheers.

Damn straight! 2003 11.5 Lift Pro, what a weapon

I heard of someone who bought one from Airborne last year, they found it "out the back" or something.

You'd be crazy to try to get a kite maker to "recreate" an existing kite. They would never get the seam shape the same. They might be able to make something that looks similar in outline but I don't think it would fly the same. On top of that - it would cost a lot to make a kite with Australian labour.

I think you'd be far better off wading into the buy & sell with $300 which would buy you pretty much any kite from 2003. There are plenty of kites that old with minimal use - you should be able to find what you're looking for there.
