One of the most unreal waves I have seen..
Tidal surge?
Even then, it's really hard to figure out how the seabed would look like.

Bono, Kampar River, Indonesia. This tidal bore is feared by the locals to sink boats. It is reported to break up to 130 kilometres inland!

It's a tidal bore (a real tidal wave) not to be confused with a tsunami. Its the first waves after low tide, although im not sure how often they get that big, im guessing must be only on king tides.

On the ripcurl site they say it was the biggest tide in 19 years!
