Sorry mate, you are factually incorrect.

I don't think he was talking about your downwinders Underoath, he was more referring to the discussions had on here over summer.

There have been problems on the L2WDW but the participants haven't admitted it on here anywhere. As I brought up at the time there was a clear lack of simple 'what if' planning on at least one that I have first hand knowledge of. But that's for another thread if someone feels the need to start it, I for one am super keen to see exactly what Cauncy is thinking for this one.

TBH I was thinking this......

Kim, Gero surf & sail has been talking about a Gero to the abrolos kite. Now that would be a challenge!

Anybody game for this ill happily lead the crew, there and back in a day easy. Just a long reach out from Point Moore. PM me when the season kicks off and we'll do it.

hi , just a quick update, ive been making a few calls over the weekend and its looking a go, we have a couple of options with the gig we could do it in a couple of stops if you want , its not for a rest its to check out a possible great spot on the way, as mentioned its a big gig and i wouldnt go into it so much if it was for myself id just hit it up with a mate or two, so we could set off from a different point and kite across to a land pinnacle called cape herrison, then on to cape bellefin, the are a few dramas with this the crossing to bellefin as it can be super shallow perfect for kiting but no good for the boat, also the final 200mtrs might take a bit of planning as the wind is close to being offshore, however ive kited it and use the big tiger sharks as a motivation to stay upwind ( it works great), for those who havnt been or heard of dirk hartog its a place when visited firmly lodges itself in your head, ( stunning)
so the is a bit more planning to be done before we talk dates and numbers, ill keep you all posted

Can we plan something of this ilk to take place just before or after Kitestock?
That way I only have to pay for one trip to WA in the next year.

thats a good idea that way some crew can do the kitestock gig then the denham to dirky crossing, itd make a good practice for the l2l if we do it in time

I'd be keen, but don't think I would do it without a good backup system if it went wrong. Ie a boat and a means of contacting it with a location.
Having seen you out swording dragons at Point Moore Austin, don't know how I feel about following you! Haha

As for back up I'm planning each group of 5 max has a boat as safety, this boat has a Gps,and we set off at intervals, that way each boat has a group to watch, its not a race so each Kiting group can be responsible for each other, the could be a plane overhead keeping a view on the groups which can contact each safety boat, I carnt assure You'll get over safely, but ill try and make it as safe as possible, but hey its an adventure,

I made a video last year of the scenic flight down to Eagle Bluff, across to the salt works, up to Steep Point, past Dirk Hartog, over to Big Lagoon and looping back to the airport. Nice vid but not sure it's much use in planning your crossing. I plan on being back down in Denham by October 28 and stay until about November 18.
I’ve thought about doing the Eagle Bluff downwinder everyone does but Dirk Hartog? Hell no!

Are you up to a challenge ?
Have you a group of mates with a decent boat ?
Can you kite 20 nautical miles ?
Ive been thinking of this for a while and have been making plans to do the trip with a mate this summer with him as safety in his boat, ive kited this area and its epic, a big lagoon, butter flat even in 35knts and a wave spot where the waves roll approx 1klm across and travel through the passage at least the same distance,
So if you and a few mates from your local are up for it let me know and ill post some details of what im thinking,

I'm keen cauncy! That is an awesome adventure, great idea mate! I'd be happy to bring some crew up from Perth area. If you still have room bud, count me in.

surf point, the ocean swells get squeezed through the passage, the island has some wicked waves, one of the pro boats hit it up a few years ago, as for kiting waves surf point is the go ive seen it in variouse states from insanely huge to perfect steep rolling waves, im being reserved in my description but they were at least a klm across and rolled at around 16 sec intervals and travelled for at least the same distance, ive kited on the fringe of the wave at this spot and it was epic, the flat water spot is also superb with big razor back dunes that meet the water , the wind screams through here with hardly a ripple on the water the dunes make a great playground

Ah be nice to that cotton wool, metro sexual generation they have been set adrift by an education system driven by female ideology and a politically correct society that has lost it's way for young men.

Don't believe me come and work where I work everyday. I am a worried man. A generation of pussies and it's getting worse.

Anyhow I'm totally up for it hey, sounds fckn epic.
