home made Skim board

G'day guys thought id post this one up. With summer coming we all like to get new toys but in my case im dirt poor so I decided to build one insted.

here is my Skim board i made out of 8mm Marine Ply

How I made it:

1) Cut out a teplate. ( make sure you only draw one half then fold it over to maintain symetry)

2) use a router to give a smooth rounded rail all around

3) Soak the wood for a few days to soften, then clamp to a table with chocks at both ends and let dry. This will give you rocker in the board however the marine ply I used didnt work that great, only giving me minimal rocker.

4) coat the board with an outdoor poly estapol. Paint after a few coats and then recoat over the top to seal the paint.

5) Have fun!!

hey man just a tip if ya using for kiteing or in the surf put a couple of layers of fiberglass or epoxy over the top

works really well great fun in light wind.

Haha epic man! . Now all we need to do is finish uni... bring on summer eh?
