It's good to see. That's the easy part over though, summer will be the test.

August and september!?

Awesome time to do the investigationing lol

Interesting the only non compliance report was via the "incident reporting hotline"

Someone really has it out for you guys...

All the best for the summer fellas!

I see the non compliance was found to be a permitted activity, curious as to what it may have been and wonder what the ruling is with paragliders that sometimes use the Northern end of the beach.

I wonder if that nutcase that swims (breaststroke) south into a 30 knot southwester 100meters offshore in the kite area is going to survive this season.

He is so hard to see when you are kiting into a setting sun.

( Hold your fire!!!! yeah I stopped in the water and spoke to him but "this is where I swim" was his line)

^Yep it is only a matter of time till someone hits him and it will be seen as the kitesurfers fault no doubt (unless a shark gets him first).
For those that may not be aware, watch out for this guy although he has heaps of beach North or South he likes to swim from one end of the kite zone to the other just before sunset and just behind the wave line, into the wind and is almost impossible to see.

I spoke to him last year, I was very polite and said that although there was nothing stopping him swimming there I just wanted him to be aware that he was very hard to see and was putting himself at risk. I suggested it would be heaps safer if he swam further down the beach but he said this is where he wanted to swim.

at least he knows about the risk then. It's not like nobody warned him.. a board in your face would not be a pleasant feeling...

But once you spot him hes pretty pridictable, as he only moves 50m in an hour
We could also buy him a cap with a flag or flashing light on it for X-mas, show some good will and such.

Also at sunset when the sun is reflecting off the water it makes him extra hard to hit.

He was obviously there the other day, because I didn't see him.

I was under the impression we are allowed to kite the north end when there are no flags up. Is that correct?

NO, only 200 metres offshore,
The only place that you can kite within 200 metres of the beach is in the kiteing zone at mullaloo.

Good article! I really need to get on here more...

Cheers Walks, and Kudos needs to go out to the Walks clan too.

BTW - Cheers for grabing my board last month too, things got a little hairy out there getting that guys kite. I wasn't surprised to see it was you who had popped out to give me a hand!

Haven't hit it as much as I would like this season! Baby/Mortgage commitments!!! Always good to know theres a good core crew looking after the place.
