i've just returned from a 3 wk kiting trip to dakhla attitude kite camp in the desert. had an amazing time meeting different nationalities who all share the common passion of kiting. the camp is fully self contained including 3 meals a day, bar, beach bar, activities for when theres no wind, surf trips, volleyball, wake boarding, soccer, catarmans, rescue boat, downwinders, speed spot, white dunes and more. i had wind for 3 wks bar 3 days and thoroughly recommend it if you want guaranteed wind every day. i stayed in the bedoiun tents as it was the cheapest accomodation and travelling alone it was the only way to go. they are demolishing them to make way for more bungalows so was stoked to stay there. mornings had the 10m out, lunch, then back for the arvo session on the 7m. unfortunately i smashed both kites but were repaired over night. after a 6 mth trip lugging my gear thru europe and only getting wind in turkey and sardenia i was stoked to have such a fantastic 3 wks to finish my holiday. seeing i've been learning for a while i even started jumping so still have a long way to go on the landings but am stoked. i want more !!!!! just arrived back in oz today on the east coast and am keen to plan the next trip.

there are a few places to kite and even though most go straight out the front, the lagoon is so long and wide (on high tide) it never seems to get crowded. the learners get taken way up wind so it all works out for everyone at all levels.

yes, a very long walk and not such a great idea as then theres not much water to kite in, better to wait for the incoming, outgoing and high tides. funny when its high tide it only stays high for an hour then it disappears in 15mins. bizarre what happens in the desert.

thanks for that weta, yep i stuck with it and finally after a lot of trying times it all seemed to click this year. just needed time on the water and all that flat water practise in dakhla showed heaps of improvement. i'm addicted for sure

Love the landscape of the villas from the water, flat top hills says plenty! Looks like a great spot for a visit. Are there any kiteable waves nearby? You said surf trips, how far away?

After spending a week In Essaouria earlier this year, I'm a bit disappointed we didn't have enough time to get down to Dahkla - and am completely jealous of you - how did you get down there - bus or plane?

Where did you kite in Sardinia? Now that's a great spot too...

hi juddy, we stayed in essaouria for 4 days but only learners were on beach on 14meter kites. we caught a bus to agadir then a plane to dakhla. its a long way to go so i was pretty stoked to get wind for 3 wks there. in sardenia i was down the south west coast at a kite spot called punta trettu, theres only one B & B you can stay in and a kite camp which has lessons and is a small camping area. it was really good as in shallow and long body of water across to island of sant'antioco. thats where the beautiful beaches are as the kite spot is only for kiting. then went up north for 2 wks didnt get wind there, i was there last year on the east and west coast and saw plenty of kiters out but cant remember the names of the places. i didnt have my gear then. any ideas of places closer to oz for a kite holiday you know of? k
