Probably the best area I have been to so for which is pretty easy to get to and really high (all abouve 2000m )is he area just to the right and up on the ramshead range of Karels T bar at Thredbo .Essentially it is high plaeau area with no trees and claer air coming across .You can head all the way up to Kosci from there .You can work that area all day and still be close to the resort .When you get off Karle walk about 10 mins up th hill to the right and all will be revealed

g'day mr float

What gear were you running and how many times have you been riding at Thredes?
Do you ride in the middle of the season or is Spring better?

I have been snow kiting 9 years now and strted on open cell foils and C quads ,then PLK arcs and now Venoms.(whoops can't this year I burn't them)I go mid season and end of season .Try to get the backends of dumps (Usually a day or 2 of moderate SW winds 10_20 kts .Its either nuking 100 km/h winds (not into kite fighting but has been done) or 10 kts or less can be frustrating but haven't had to buy lift tickets too much in the past few years.

Thanks for that info.

I have seen the wind get crazy down there I Wreckon 100 km/h is about right.
A group of us are going to go for a trip probably in July. Maybe we'll see you guys.

thanks
p.s what size kite are you using in 20 knts?

Don't through stones when you live in a glass house.

I think I'll do you a favour cause you sound like the type of ***** bloke (???) that hides under the bed over 2 foot or 10 knts, here's a hook up with somwone you can spend some time on the bed instead of hiding under it

boost on that then you'll earn the respect to dis others

thredbo is looking good, aiming for mid to late july.

what kite sizes are you using mr float? ive a 9m g2 i can easily chuck in with me. ive got a few tubes too but im really looking to snowboard more than snowkite so i dont want to take tonnes of gear

whats the best (read cheapest) way to get there, i can fly to syd or melb easy enough, canberra might be a pain to get tickets for.

I'm pretty sure that a good spot in NZ is snow farm in the wanaka area but I,m not sure if it is still OK .I heard a rumour that the owners weren't very keen on it.Here's a bit of a thread(http://community.flexifoil.com/showthread.php?p=1477568)
I also found this www.extremesportscafe.com/snowkiting_newzealand.html#snowkitinglocation

not sure where they actually go tho
also this
kitebuggy.co.nz/archives/000028.html
and this

(not thrilling but gives an idea of what one spot is like)

and this www.kiteaddicts.com/index.htm (not sure if still operating or currentthere is an old ad up the top)

there is some organised stuff going on in Oz too
