there are pros and cons vs staps no straps
at the end of the day a bloke who rips in 25 knts strapless is a league above
anyone who surfs with straps
at wedge i saw both sides of riding i respect the both love seeing strapped aerials landing back on the wave
also love seeing a back slides strapless, a or swithing feet nid wave.
each to their own
if you havent tried both dont comment

I reckon 90% of kiters don't care, they ride for there own pleasure.
Let the 5% who enter comps bitch and whine about which is harder/cooler. (I think it's funny)
The remaining 5% are sheep that care more about what others think than there own enjoyment.
Yep you don't complain about straps when you borrowed my board???
and when you borrow my best surfboard for a bit of soull kiting strapless, you punch a hole in the deck
Oh well, get it fixed and we are good to go, That's what mates are for
Been reading these threads for awhile and could not really comment because I hadn't ridden strapless, in any size waves anyway. I had a lingering feeling that i wasnt really experiencing the stoke that the strapless kiters were and that i wasnt as cool... Had my first decent crack at it on the weekend so now feel qualified to stick my 2 cents in haha.
So... The verdict... Unstrapped is fun! But so is strapped. And so is riding a twin tip. And god help me, I love the SUP too. Stoke is what you make it. Horses for courses...
Whether you are strapped, strapless, naked, dressed up like Santa or using a SUP, who really gives a rats as long as you are having a good time? I saw a guy riding a bin lid at Squids a few weeks ago who was having a ball.
I think everybody should get back to basics and just have fun - no matter what gear and how many accessories they want to use.
PURE FUN IS THE ONLY GOAL!
When I came out with the Rotatable Footstrap Plate it was to improve strapped kitesurfing - not to fight strapless.
And it has mainly been (religious) strapless riders, that gave a lot of advice to loose my straps and make fun of the product.
These kind of comments make well meant threads appear as SPAM. Keep the language nice and give advice that leads to more fun in this sport.

Im always waiting for the guys who ride switch to start up. I think its much harder to ride switch on a wave than it is strapless. Then what about the guys who ride switch and strapless? How good must they be?
Hey Cory that is our switch secret. Yeh and switch unstrapped ......... now we are talking ultimate dificulty. A few riders I know can ride, and equally well strapped forhand & switch. Also strapped backhand & strapped switch backhand. Sounds a mouth full but works well in a session 3 waves switch forehand / 3 waves forehand natural, a couple switch bach hand and a couple standard backhand.
Also most of these riders rip unstrapped natural forehand and back hand. Most can ride unstrapped switch but its real hard pumping down the line like a standard surfer, and tube riding switch is really challenging.
Why would you **** up your brain with all this, because being a natural kiter in WA you get the really fun option of riding switch alot.......
I love watching 100% hardcore strapped riding & equally I love watching hardcore 100% unstrapped riding...
