This is the best video ive seen of mauritius so far. Jeremy Eloy has done such a great job with the shooting and edit. Bravo Jeremy.

He is still releasing videos in his series "Make My Day" most recently to NZ more coming next tuesday too. The NZ vid i great too but this One Eye vid is so good.

do yourself a favour and find 15 minutes for it.

Enjoy

Really enjoyed that, what a special wave hey.

Loved the whales at the end, had a similar experience off exmouth, but I'm man enough to admit I was sh1tting myself.

Takes you there that vid, cool.

I don't understand kite surfing on a wave if you do surf style maneuvers-
- the maneuvers are hindered by the kite
- they don't look as good
- the moves in this vid appeared to be hindered by the kite.

Kite surfing on waves should be expanding surfing to new heights, top riders should be doing new moves, not emulating old and tired tricks that surfers do.

Top surfers are doing aerials on waves, at the very least Kite wave surfing should be pushing aerials off and back onto waves, really using the benefits and advantages a kite offers a rider.

so yawn, i don't get it. i've seen better surf videos, a kite surf video should be more interesting than a nice wave and a few cutbacks.

i agree with those sentiments, and always thought that adding the kite should add further dimensions to wave riding

but i aint a good enough surfer or kiter to make any progression

but i would also be interested in exactly what could be done

I'm not so sure the video's purpose was to display cutting edge surfing with a kite. It is anything but.

But I think it is designed to reveal an adventure, to get the feel for us smucks who cannot ever experience this because they now have family, kids and mortgages!

Plus, when the wind is up, waves don't hold up, so a kite is the option.

Kite surfing on a waves doesn't even come close to what the new age lads (and kelly Slater) are doing...maybe one day, but right now nah!

But heck what a place, how good would it be to kite/surf that joint!

Now this is what i'm talking about fellas:
this is what kiteboarding adds to water sports that no other can!
there's one other video by the Aussie from Byron bay which is bad ass too.

Kite Goonz is my go to movie for what I want my kitesurfing to look like in maybe 2 more years (we can dream)

IMO the biggest advantage to having a kite is
-positioning (you never miss a set) and can often get the first and last wave of one
-bridging sections, you see this alot in "make my day"
-and dropping in on closeout waves knowing you can just boost over it when it happens or out run it.
-remember that the right wind direction allows unhooking and alot more freedom in movement

We get some incredibly blown out waves here and before the kite I spent them paddling flat out just to keep my position- most people with a surfing background will say that kiting just adds to their surfing and I agree

Agree with all your points.

kite surfing- surf style is so amazing, When you are actually doing it it's the best feeling! I just believe the pro's should be filming much more progressive moves than surf style, leave the basic stuff to us sea-breezers :)

I totally agree with Seabreezeb on the point of adding more to what already exists.
The thing with that video of Mauritius One Eye is that the wave is so nice, cos its offshore winds. You don't do airs and land back on the wave in offshore wind. The thing with One Eye, is that its such a beautiful wave to ride, such a smooth face, easy to read, sooo long, simple kite movements. Its soooo much fun. the video brings that out i think. Also its a great travel video - boring if your not into travel or even thinking of it, but if you are - the vid shows so much more than just a really great place to kite and some top riders.

Dont get me wrong I love onshore winds too - big airs, technical strapless challenges, snappy reos - I love it - I love it all - variety is the spice of life.

Not a bad Vid; history of one eye was amusing, nice cinematography, to be honest I was expecting a bit more.

Antandroy still does it for me, each to their own.

Great clip, looks like fun kiting a solid reef break a few ks off shore in a 20+ off shore wind..... A f'up would be a career ending session.

I can hear my own thoughts....'don't drop the kite don't drop the kite' , if its a close out don't be hero!
