About to start doing kiteloops, just wondering:
-if the kite makes the loop easily, do you then have to loop it again or redirect it to land well?

Hi Wishy,

The kite rarely makes it "easily" unless you are mega looping a 9m in 35 knots! Most the time you are doin' well if it comes back to 12 o'clock before you land.

Just redirect it or double loop it as you land, the second loop has zero power as you should be moving at, or just below wind speed.

Start with your kite at 12 and gradually loop it from lower as you get confident.

Loop nothing bigger than a 9m if you are doing real loops. A downturn is different, you can do that on a 17m.

Good luck and remember "fully commit"

Try a backroll 'kiteloop' on a Flysurfer Speed 3 19m! It takes a week to get it even half way round.

FWIW i started learning loops on a 12m, then started doing them properly on my 8m. I found that a transition loop on a 12m where i threw the kite back past 12 and initiated the loop from ~1 gave enough of a power kick to learn how to do them without needing much height off the water at all. Also IMO it's much easier to learn backroll kiteloops on a slightly larger kite than a small fast one.

I guess that makes sense, it's not going to loop faster than when I downloop it or loop it going out through the surf. I was trying to figure it out watching this video which confused me a bit:
