Do any of you boys or girls pack extra gear for doing your Perth down winders and if so do you have any tips.

I am thinking about a mobile phone / havianas / water bottle in case something goes turtle and you end up with a long walk back to your car?

Depends on how far - Leighton to Scarbs or beyond, I always have mobile ph & couple of gold coins in an Aquapac style thingy. Never had kitemare, but the day you don't have phone will be the day you end up walking between City Beach & Scarbs....when the car's @ Mullaloo.

Recently picked up a camelbak for distance SUP'ing....might start using that for longer DW's also.

Heard of a few guys that went Perth to Lanno, think they just took pie money for Yanchep on the way through seriously though I think they had a repair kit phone and a pump. Just have a plan sorted before you embark and keep an eye on each other.

+1 for camelbacks on long rides.

You can get a canoeing Type 3 PFD that has pockets in it to carry a phone pouch and other gear. They are OK to kite in too but do add some bulk (and buoyancy). You can also add a Dakine pouch to your harness to carry a few items.

Great advice, thanks everyone...

Anyone got a link for the DaKine pouch, or for their preferred pack / pouch.

Where does the pouch go, down the boardies to keep the boys company?

Haven't heard that one, bloody long way. True story or BS?

Ask Darren Marshall for the story. Think it was Ed and others.

Aaaa-Hem!

Graham Currie & Ian Young. 2003? Back in the days when the gear gave you a severe bollocking for your mistakes!!

Leighton to Lano. Australian distance record at the time.

Obviously not the first then, think your legs would be shaking after that one!

Take a $50 for cab fare just in case. If something goes pear shaped you can just cab back to your car.
