How is it done? Everytime I try and take off my board, hold it by the handle, and make a pretend walk of Jesus, I sink. Do I have to have the kite angled a special way, or going up, or do I need windier days? Thanks
You need to BELIEVE
and kite loop.
Thankfully I have plenty of utube videos that back me up when I say this - No kite looping required.

Post one?
Needs a kite loop... or you - wait for it - sink
The kite is NOT being kite looped! Are you all on drugs or something!? I've never seen this trick being done with the kite looped 360 deg over like a mega loop if that's what you're referring to.
Got it now. But i am shocked. They hardly pull on one side of the bar and they loop the kite?! Obviously I need to learn to do loops.

Oh get over it! Any decent "student" will nag with the questions and question even the questions. The point is I got it.
You might be thinking "mega-loop" when I say "kite-loop"...
Terminology I use and therefore, so should everyone else
down-loop - looping the kite with by pulling your "forward" hand eg. steady tack, kite at 11, going to the left, pull your left hand - kite loops down towards 9 and then back around into the power zone. aka front-loop.
kite-loop - looping the kite by pulling your "back" hand eg. steady tack kite at 10, going to the left, pull your right hand - kite loop up towards 12 then around into the power zone. aka back-loop
mega-loop - tight kite-loop at altitude that pulls the rider horizontally, allowing him/her/ the mental-patient to free-fall with slack lines while the kite climbs to the zenith, only to catch the rider before they smash into a knee-destroying landing...
helicopter-loop - a loop in either direction across the zenith that provides more lift than pull.
You'll notice in the videos that they have their hand near the center and aren't fish-poling the bar, so the bar makes it look like the kite isn't really looping, but if you watch the lines, sometimes you can catch it making the circle...
What I think the key to the trick is, is a steady, slow transition of the kite from say 10 back across the zenith which makes the lift for you to do the trick as you pendulum around under it, then actually looping the kite hard as the lift dies... which is kind of how I do light wind water starts
I say "think" cos I've yet to try any serious kite-loop tricks so mad props to you for attempting it
Another good vid on using a loop as lift... dark slide again. Despite the Russian language problem, you can clearly see him building up to the trick by looping the kite and just riding it out. Just - make sure you have plenty of space downwind :o
Nar the trick works best right on the shore line with shacks and trees, also better for the camera man??? lol

That was the best response in a long time. Thank you so much Kamikuza! Really awesome video as well. It clearly showed me the loops you're referring to, minus the mega loop. Yeah, i thought 'loop' meant one type of loop, the 360deg mega loop.
Interestingly you also mentioned that "pendulum" effect. That's the thing that i thought was only required to do the trick, because of the fast momentum and tension on the lines the 'pendulum' swing does. But i understand now it would 'pull the kite down' and one could lose a lot of height relying on that alone.
No worries. They go from zero to full-sarcastic around here at the drop of a hat
Loop makes it last longer.
Have a look at the Airstyle videos of Toby Brauer... he did a 666 tick double DVD recently, and they're good to watch for inspiration
