Are these a good and reliable safety leash,i was a bit sceptical of the velcro
at first but i guess it achieves the desired result and the red pull tab is a reasonable size to find?Apart from the obvious two options on the o-sh!t rings with this bar set up what other options are there for attaching the other end ?

Most people would clip one end of their leash to the back or side of their harness; usually to the D-ring or whatever your harness has... not to the spreader bar. Nothing against the spreader bar just it looks like it would get in the way a bit there.

As is shown in the photo, the other end can be connected to the depower rope for 90-95% depower on release. Your other options are to hook it to an o-sh!t ring/handle if your setup has them for ~95% depower, or above the chickenloop on the depower rope for ~80% depower.

The last option that i'd strongly not recommend would be to hook it onto the loop of the chicken loop. My reason for discouraging this is that if you do pull the QR then the leash will also release from the chicken loop leaving your kite sailing away into the sunset/carpark/powerlines/etc.
