Howdy! just after some advice on my new north rebel.
So i have always used north kites and i normally just put my safety leash straight onto my chicken loop. However i thought i would try out the 5th line on my new rebel. My first big crash i pulled the bar back in on the 5th line, connected the bar but then it seemed like i had about 4 meters of the 5th line i needed to feed back through. The kite turned on itself a few time before it took off and whipped the 5th line through my hand, and gave me a massive jerk.
my question is, what is the correct method for the 5th line relaunch or does every one just hook there leash onto the chicken loop?
It seems a lot easier and quicker to just hook onto my chicken loop but I'm about to start riding my board with boots so i kinda would like the max de-power.
Hello Tim,
I'm not totally sure I follow you, but, err.. there should be instructions etc. with your bar or check online. I have the same said kite, and I always attach my leash to the 5th Line depower (the metal figure of 8, connected to the red 5th line, at the top of the chicken loop).
I'm not unhooking hence if i fire the QR I want max depower via the 5th line.
Good luck.
Yes, you connect the safety to the metal ring that is connected to the 5th line, not the chicken loop. if you want to ride unhooked, in suicide mode, you run the chicken loop through the metal ring, but still connect the safety leash to the little metal ring on the bottom of the big one.
I would imagine if you connect your safety leash to the chicken loop, and hit your ironheart safety you would let the whole lot go!
Thanks for the responses guys. yes if i did use the QR i would loose the whole thing. i just never use the QR. Yeh i think i need to have a bit more of a play around using the 5th line.
i have tried to find everywhere information on how people are riding there rebels, how they relaunch etc and can't find too much information.
may need to have a chat with a few guys down the beach
