Like always, New gear arrives and the wind sh1ts itself
Tested the 10m Nemisis NXG on Sat. 20 -25 knots, 80kgs fully lit!!! Great kite! Awesome boosts, good height and very floaty! Quick turning on AB setting. Would be crazy fast on AA Wind was gusty at times but no problem for this machine. Had 2 learners there and they both got going with ease. I would recommend it for all levels of kiters. I had the 10 HP 09 and I would say this is the best kite I have ever ridden.
Get out there and give them a go guys!!!!
Disclosure: Best Dealer
Had a run on the 9 and 10 yesterday. 10 was on the a 45 best bar and 9 was on a 55 with q power.
Not much to say in such small amount of testing but still very floaty and I would say more grunt than last years - 10m vs 10m. Very smooth and predictable (hooked in) loops. Bag is massive - pump is still small. One pump with strut close off clips and ext tubes like all of the main ones around.
We got our first run on the Nemesis today, unreal kite again from Best. I slapped a few pics and footage together. Demos will be in stores this week. You really need to check this kite out, you wont be dissapointed.
Oh oh..
Now I am not Best bashing at all (still have 2 great old Best beasts in the shed) but settle down with the super-hype a bit, until they have some proven kms and reliablility under the belt, or any probs (even monor) that may appear (as with all new designs) will totally undermine the performance ala the fish or even the 08 HP.
Hope it's all good - wish I could have one!
looks like a nice kite but,
in the 2nd vid he said the bridle will minimise back stalling, however in the first vid i saw it fly backwards a couple of times.
thats a bit of a worry.
a question to anyone that has ridden one of the new model best kites, do they still "jellyfish" and flap about like the previous model waroos.
would like to try one.
The stalling you saw was me, 100kg trying to fly in 12knots, with the kite fully trimmed out to try and suck every last drop of power from it. The lighter crew were rippin on them, just wasnt my day
This kite is designed not to stall in normal conditions, making it ideal for freestyle / wake.
thanks. yeah, the last waroo i tried was the 07. might have to give them a second chance. what is Bests wave dedicated kite, good for unhooking with?
cheers,
PS. you were ripping in that vid, putting the kiddies to shame.
I feel that all 3 kites are going to be sick in the waves, but the true wave kites will be the Kahoona and the Waroo. Good thing as well is the price on these kites. Best shops have pricing now, you should check in with them, ask for a demo as well.
get back on the Best program, you wont be dissapointed, but I must admit there is a lot of good looking and performing gear on the market this comming year.
'
we got the 10 nemi here to demo an I have a broken finger
was hangin out for a go and we have wind as well....spewin aargh x!#!*grrrhh
I tried the 10m Nemi NXG in around 20knots. I noticed a few things, some good others bad. (For the record i own REV's)
GOOD;
Sturdy construction
Improved safety release system
Very stable when unhooked
Excellent upwind ability (really cranked)
BAD;
Slow turning speed (for waves, maybe good for freestyle though?)
Bad relaunch, seems as though you just cant get enough air pressure into it
Weird power compared to other 10m, it felt like I was on a 8m.
I have always hated the Best kites, but given the BAD points, I still really liked this kite (for flatwater). I don't think it would have enough turning speed for waves though unless just down-the-line.
Could be a good mixitup kite for peeps doing abit of flat and waves.
Go demo it.
PS, how good is DI.
well it would of been 20knots, and i was fully powered up. i still had to pump it through the window abit. most other 10's would've been fairly lit. i think you need good wind for it to excell.
and i do agree that it would be quite good for flat water unhooking tricks.
have you tried a bigger Nemi 2010. i think given the relaunch and slow turning speed, that they might not be too good. what do you think???
i was rather impressed by it.
The 12 is what I have been on the most so far due to light conditions. I like the changes, it suits my style perfect. It is a specialised kite, and most prob wont suit all riders, but for everyone else, Best has the Kahoona and Waroo for the other styles. As I have said from day dot on these forums, try before you buy, that way you wont be dissapointed if a kite doesnt perform for your personal needs.

Dudes,
Here is some feedback from Sydney south side today wind NE 17 -20kt sea-breeze , usually I would ride with a 12m in these conditions but was keen to fly the new NXG 10m .
I ride best hp's , so I suppose i would be comparing them and have to say ,the NXG is a completely different kite to the HPs .
Rigging you notice the hugely increased deep draft in the central canopy, the new one pump works like a dream , seems to pump up hard easier with a hand-pump then last year I guess due to less Cuben fibre in the leading edge.
Self launch ( c-kite ) fold the wingtip with sand, its dead easy .
This is one sweet kite for a 10m its got balls more grunt ,( bottom end )than last years ,09 -08 10m HPs they had an awesome BS wind range, the wind wasn't strong enough to feel the NXG lit , but the sweet spot starts around 17kts
and was well powered 19-20kts , upwind ability is fast & unreal .
Initial turn is quick , AB setting , but I found myself having to be aggressive with the bar to get the response from the kite that I'm used too (08 10HP )
( I like my kites to turn fast ) their is more power
through the turns forsure , = transitions in light air easier to keep the board planning through the turn, and when powered you just crank through
turns .
Airtime is what I kite / live for , the NXG is sick!!! really easy to stick tricks with this one.
Multiple rotations board offs and grabs are noticeably easier to stick.
kiteloops have more power through the loop and awesome whip at the end,
tantrum wakestyle loaded up moves with the kite parked, it is rock solid stable .
The NXG feels smoother in power delivery ,giving me more confidence to attack my moves and to learn / break new ground, and is one step closer to a one kite solution, yeah give them a go
Dudes,
just to add some more detail...
NXG tuning tips & strong wind review.
I tested it out on the AA settings today didnot try it until I checked with best as the tuning instructions sheet that comes with the kite says do not use AA setting , thinking (AA) could not take the full load. but found out......
Best says the reason for no AA is simple.
A good rider who knows how to rig his kite and doesn't get confused by his rear lines shortening as he swaps knots, will just ignore the advice and rig it how he damn well wants.
A less experienced rider will take the advice in the manual as not use the AA setting, preferring to rely on the 'auto-tune' feature to compensate the line length.
I had 5 days / 20hrs testing now, Sydneys been blessed with good winds and sunny days this week , NEs 16 -25 kts strong gusty westlys 15-30kts totally lit!
Now I can say this is the best kite from best ever!!!!
the 10m NXG kite is really easy to handle in near all riderable conditions for @ 102kg in strong wind it boosts huge & floats better than anything I've tryed before,
flawless in strong wind.
light -mod wind conditions its easy to oversheet and loose some power,
Bar pressure is really light and direct feel
On the AA setting Initial turn is quick , the response from the kite / turning speed
is super fast , so much better for me than the AB setting , in light or strong wind
one stoked dude,
