All current Ozone kites are 4 line with no pulleys.

My REO's don't need a refresh, they just need some wind.

I heard from a dealer/distributor that the main changes to the C4 will be further improvement to low end and boosting. I was super impressed with the difference between the 2011 and 2012 models so cant wait to see what the 2013 will do!!

I also heard that the New bar may AGAIN not be released with the new kites!!!!! im not to fussed (i own 4 ozone bars) as i dont mind the current bar. so i will just buy kite only if this is the case. not saying it wouldnt be nice to have the latest bar with the latest kite

Release date mid september same as the Reo's maybe. (exactly what i was told) so not long to go now

and thats why my new 12 will be here in 14 days. The 10 and 8 with a airush quad got me out most days last year but it will be interesting how the 12 goes this year with a few extra kg on the rider.
I hear the trailing edge has been changed to reduce flutter so no doubt that should improve the bigger kites too.

This sounds promising - no pics :(

CONTACT WATER CONTROL SYSTEM >>
The Contact-Water Control System has been completely redesigned offering the latest in safety features, a clean control bar design and a simple easy-to-use trimming system. The system exceeds all Kitesurf/Snowkiting loading and release EU NORM safety standards.

Push Away Quick Release – The control system features a new Megatron push-away quick release safety with total flag out of the kite. The red release handle is ergonomic with positive release forces (5kg) allowing for quick and easy release. Simple re-assembly saves time and gets you back out on the water faster.

Two Safety Modes – The Megatron offers riders a choice of two safety modes, the recommended standard safety or the optional Suicide safety.
- The standard safety offers 100% flag out in all situations by releasing the Megatron or letting go of the bar when un-hooked
- The Suicide option offers 100% flag out only when the Megatron is released whilst hooked in, allowing riders practicing handle passes to let go of the bar with out flagging the kites safety (not recommended)

Anti-twist 100% Flag Out Line – The flag out line running through the Megatron & safety leash attachment at the bottom keeps the leash tangle free when doing rotations and manually unwinding the centre lines using the Spinning Handle.

Low Friction Centre Piece – The control bar features a low friction aluminum centre piece designed to reduce trim line wear.

Auto Positioning Chicken Loop – Designed in conjunction with the bar centre piece, the Megatron spinning handle allows chicken loop auto positioning, offering easy unhooked riding and hooking back in.

Magnetic trim handle system – The Magnetic trim handle connects to a magnetic neoprene sock covering the clam cleat to reduce tangles when the trimmer is de-powered.

Soft Bar Ends & Longer Foam Floats – The soft bar ends reduce the risk of injuries and board damage, and the longer foam floats provide protection from the lines.

PU Covered trim line & cast stainless steel de-power ring – The tough PU covered trim significantly reduces wear when sheeting in and out, whilst the smooth running de-power ring also prevents trim line wear.

The Contact-Water Control System bar sizes come in 45cm, 50cm and 55cm. The larger size PU chicken loop (sold separately) is perfect for riders with longer arms or for riders wanting even easier hooking in & out.

Yes, I see it on the Ozone site as well.
I see nothing in the way of changes other than a new paint job.
Any reason to buy the 2013 over the 2012 which is now on sale?
Definitely going to snag an 8m but why not save some $$$ and buy the 2012 while they're still available??
I do love this kite!

I ordered my 2012 10m Reo just as they swapped over production to 2013, so my crispy new red, yellow & black Reo just arrived. Dark and raining outside so cann't look at it properly.
Cann't see any thing different apart from the paint job on kite, and bag is slightly different, and but heh, didn't need changing anyway.

got to take the 2013 12m out for a quick run yesterday after the wind backed off late. Jumping off the 8 the 12 looked huge and it defiantly takes a lot more to pump up. The leading edge on the 12 is huge compared to the 10 and the whole kite looks much bigger. So the wind was still about 17 to 20kn and was perfect for the 10 but I just had to try the new 12. For anyone thinking the 10 and 12 are too close think again it has a heap more power and feels like it will have far more bottom end than the 10. This extra power doesn't come free though as it is heaps harder to edge out of the window and turns a fair bit slower. It kinda feels more like some of the more delta shaped kites on the market with huge amounts of bottom end power.
Finally even though I had a fair bit of depower pulled in the kite didn't flutter at all so I would say they have addressed that this year.

Hi TurtleHunter
I havent flown a Reo, so when you make the comment the 12 is a fair bit slower reference the 10. How is it compared to other 12m kites you have flown

I havn't flown anything over a 10 since last xmass so it's a bit of a guess plus I have only had 1 hour on it so far but there was a fair bit of difference between the 10 reo and the 12. Plus the waves were pretty fast with cross on wind while overpowered so there wasn't much turning involved. It did also feel a bit heavier to turn than the 10. I would guess it was faster than my 13 c4 if that helps

Hey Turtle hunter, thanks for 1st impressions of 12m reo. I am still using a 2008 12m Light II as my light wind wave kite, as there are still days when the 10m Reo doesn't quite do it. I have recently bought 6,8,10m Reo's, and still have my 2010 5,7 & 9m C4's which I am reluctant to part with-love them too much.
I was considering a 13m C4 to replace the 12m Light II, but would be interested in any further comparrisons between the 13m C4 & 12m Reo.

Thanks

Gary

With no new bar, anyone upgrading from 2012,s to 13s ? & if so I would be interested in reasons why. ?? (to help convince the Miss-S).

Fair enough... if your lucky enough that its just plain old worn out.

I,m glad it still looks like it,s the same kite with no major changes & only needing minor tweaks.

Well done Ozone on the kite itself but your bar is well overdue for retirement, (& I think sales could suffer because of this).

TurtleHunter,

I was thinking the 12m was going to be too close to the 10m. How much difference would you say there is?
Do you have a kite bigger than the 12m?
I also notice you say it turns a fair bit slower, would you say too slow?

I had written off the 12m as my big kite, thinking it was too close to the 10m and not enough low end to be my biggest kite.

Looking hard at the 2013 Airush Lithium 12m but waiting to hear about the 2013 Catalyst which is supposed to undergo some change.

Tony I also have a 13m c4 but now with the 12m reo I will never need it in the surf. The 12m feels like a much bigger kite than the 10m. It is a big light wind kite but is still the best for the surf.
I have been miss timing turning it on a wave since it is slower than I am used too but thats what you get when kiting in light winds I guess.
It seems to have a lot more pull the bar in for power rather than using the speed of the kite although compared to the c4 and any other kite I have used in the surf it still edges out of the window the best.
