This is some mod’s I have done to my Rev’s bars. I was often annoyed with the effort required to depower / power up the rev’s, I have changed the type of rope and added a pulley to my bars these 2 simple things have made a big difference! I used a 21mm Riley roller bearing block and 6mm spectra rope, the rope relaced the grey Slingshot rope and I inserted the pulley just under the double stainless rings. See the attached pictures. I have had kited with these changes for the last month with no problems yet, except for the Stopper Ball slides down the rope after a few minutes kiting. I fixed this by putting a bit of cloth inside the Stopper ball holes to hold it tight. I have also found the bar is easier to pull in & push out whilst turning the kite, the rope is a little thinner and the bar slides nicely. I sure I’m not the first to do this but I haven’t seen it and it an easy improvement to the bars performance.

Hi Grant,
Great mod. thanks, went and got the goods today....can you please detail the bit about using cloth to hold the stopper? Going to do same to Fuel bar.
Bring on Summer.
Nick
Sorted: used some lace from ladies undies....seems to do the trick
^^What are you 2 on??^^
Of course its a rev bar and the Centre Safety System will work.
Good mod! It looks cool with the red line.
A tip for anyone trying to re-thread their their Rev's depower line. Get some 30-50lb braided fishing line and a needle.
I found its an absolute ba$tard of a job to do without a needle and thread. I'm not sure how anyone else does it but this worked brill for me:
Using it as a needle and thread, tie a knot similar to shown below. Then you just pull the depower line through the bits and pieces using the braid.
Nothing wrong with that toad. If you don't use the DD might as well take it off as they just get in the way.
Nick,
This is what I did (see picture) basically just pushed some needle felt media through and put a little glue each end.
Walshd,
I also used to have trouble getting the depower rope back through, what I have used that works really well is a 20cm (ish) long piece of sail repair tape and just roll one end around the last 5cm of rope like you would a cigey paper and use the remainder to pull the rope through. This stuff stick's like anything and you can't stretch and break like normal tape.
LouD,
It's Rev. Some of the early bars are slightly different.
TOAD,
My harness has a habit of steeling my DD's, something to do with the Warrior harness's spreader bar. I do normally have one on, but like BrisKites said you don't need one unless it's really gusty and even then only on the beach when your kite could fall back and unhook.
Cheers
Grant.
how did you finish the end off where it sits in the chicken loop. the bit with the bearing. i guess a few knots would hold it.
Thanks... nice post.
I removed the little screw from the little black (small) stopper ball. I have found if I depower too much the ball restricts travel and depower capability.
Works for me as my arms are long enough to reach --- although it did save Will.i.am's kite the other day when the one side of his chickenloop broke and the ball stopped it from slipping all the way out.
Guys one thing the reason the black stopper ball is there is so you can't over trim the kite..
If you make the front lines to short. You won't get back line tension and be able to steer the kite..
