The Shinn Monk Forever has again received rave reviews from testers in Kiteworld Magazine. As a formerly dedicated North twin tip rider I have to agree. I have spent plenty of time on the 2013 Select and 2013 Jaime Pro, both with NTT bindings. While these two North boards are very good the Shinn Monk is better. The ride is smooth and dry compared to the select which gave a lot of spray in the face. Somewhat similar in spray levels to the older model Cesar Pros. The Jaime does handle more like the 2012 team series, harder on the knees but it delivers lots of pop. The NTT bindings are not as comfortable as the Shinn pads either. The monk is outstanding for powered up riding in all water ststes and you can boost big!! Just lock and load.
had the monk since its release and it still has me frothing, its a agressive freeriders dream, team it up with an ozone edge and youll get max performance from kite and board, loves to be ridden flat out, had it out on monday arvo with my edge 10 in some very strong conditions wouldnt have any other board or trust another board to hold down the power, prefer the old straps and pads but thats a personal preference, not a bad review , pretty much sums it up
Im interested in this board but finding it impossible to get advice on what size I need... 81-83 kgs.... 18-25 knots. Any ideas?

Dont be afraid to go a bit bigger as due to its big rocker and outline you'll not lose your edge when it gets up a bit, imo the 134 would be the go, all dependent on kite choice, and size, carnt emphasize how well this board goes with a powerful kite

Size is such a personal thing its good to try the options - if you can.
By the book (and with his experience on the Monk) cauncy is spot on. But the 132 may do it for you better. OR if you are one of those who like the ride of a bigger board then it may be the 136. My bet would be 132 or 134. Only customers Ive had that have settled on the 136 have been closing in on 100kg and over.
If you cant get to compare Id go with cauncys advice. Mine would be the same.
Ive found with the Shinns that the 'right' size board is very obvious. 1 up or 1 down makes a world of difference.
I was on a 132 Luigi so my first tryout was the 133 Dundee (Xride & wave boards). The 133 was a definite for being too much board on my feet. Havent tried the 131 yet but thinking it will hit the spot for me at 70/75kgs.
Cauncy know his ****. i have a 134 and 136 and @ 100kg 136 is the right board
giving the 134 to a mate.
I hover around the 87-90kg mark and use the 134.42, have no complaints whatsoever in the 15-25 range. Even 15 kts in the surf its fine with an 11m.
I weigh 82kgs and use a 9 and 11m fuse. I have a 132 x 41 and its great in 15+ knots.
