My Comments:
I am wanting to treat myself to my first surfboard for xmas this year and start venturing into some wave riding over the season. Any suggestions for my weight which would be a good surfboard to start with? I was thinking of going with a kite specific board to start with and then progressing over time to strapless and also using the board initially as a light wind board with my Zeph.
Any suggestions from riders with similar weight profiles on what would work best.
Used Zeph at sunday at Merimblua Classic on custom 5'8" Smook sb But i am 76klg ALSO i paddle surfed production SB 6'1" x18 1/4 x2"Which may be suitable for your weight for kite surfing ? Note has plugs for straps/ full bamboo epoxy brd
Kite bt,
I have just done what you are heading for... I went with the f-one 6 foot (Monteiro as Cauncy above suggested) with the advice of a mate who has been using fone boards for years. I have taken it out once only so far....but am 100 kg's and had a three hour blast...I too am only just getting into wave riding this christmas period.
I'm no review expert, but I believe this board is going to be great for me - you should look into it.
Kite bt,
North Nugget for your size and weight, I bought a Underground Kipuna and I can't break it.
I am 90 kg and have had a North WAM and a Firewire Dominator.
The Firewire held in there for a while but I was to harsh with it.
I also like to ride strapped when its cranking and strapless when its not. Zephyr is cool to kite with on small waves.

... hey nearly my weight,,,,,, good to hear other big boys out there too. I gave the surf board malarkey a go to see what all the fuss was about and just about reckon I'll never go back to TT, not unless I have too.
No affiliation to any brand but I've had a great run on the Airush Cypher 5'10", nice wide board for the light stuff and with the big v in the tail, handles stronger winds waaay better than it looks like it can do and can be ridden fast too. I've used a few other boards of various brands and surf boards also and the purpose built ones handle us big guys well.
North Nugget is a good one to check out too, again a much broader performance board than they say, especially if your on the heavier size, you can push the board into much windier/wavier then they say.
Good luck and have fun.
cheers,
Robbie
