SAKSA Members are invited to participate in the 2011 Adelaide Kite Festival.
The Adelaide Kite Flyers Association is running the event, and we want to make it inclusive of all aspects of kiting in Adelaide. SAKSA has been offered space to set up an information stall for the weekend - details are being sorted - hopefully you can rotate supervision duties so that Troy doesn't have to sit there all day!
For the rest of the SAKSA boarders, it would be great to see you putting on a show on the water on the Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons. This is your chance to (legally) kitesurf Semaphore Beach. There will be thousands of spectators on the jetty - get your mates to take photos!
The Kite Shop is a sponsor, but since they don't trade in kitesurfing gear any more, there are potential sponsorship / advertising opportunities for the other shops (Onboard, Nobile?)
OK the weekend weather forecast looks great for a Kite Festival - not crankin conditions for a kitesurf, but the southerly airstream might give us an 18 knot seabreeze if we're lucky. I'm always optimistic.
Bastien has offered some great accessories which we will be giving away to kiteboarders who put on a show. If the wind is light, then Semaphore Beach is as good place as any to do the walk of shame. If there's no wind, then whoever sits in the SAKSA tent and answers the public's questions will get the prizes..... "is it hard work on your arms?" ...... "how much do the kites cost?"...... you know the drill.
Huge thanks to Troy for setting up the SAKSA tent, being there to answer all the questions, and helping us with the pack-down. There seemed to be lots of interest so hopefully we have generated some business for the schools and shops, as well as new SAKSA members.
The wind was great for everything except kite surfing - Thanks to Jordan, Martin and Andy for putting on a show for the crowd, despite the trying conditions.
I did see one other champion doing a downwinder late Sunday - top work.
According to our survey.....
What did you enjoy about about the Kite Festival? (tick as many as you like) 32% selected Kite Surfing.
What did you like about the Foreshore area? (tick as many as you like) 16% ticked SAKSA info.
.... not bad given the conditions.
