About 6 months ago I was kiting at the wall at Outer Harbour and was struggling abit with my 14m Rebel. The wind was gusty at around 10-12kts, but I noticed some guys fully powered with some very flat kites. After some research here it would appear that they were using Genetrix kites. Are they sold in Adelaide? There are none for sale on the buy and sell here and what's the safety system and the water relaunch like? I mainly kite down south, but have never seen one down this way.

hello coastflyer,

thankyou for the interest.

just to answer a couple of your questions.

the safety system on the hydra is whats to be expected for 2010, the kite has a unique way of switching off power when you let go of the bar. but if you need to release the kite its just a matter of pulling the quick release on the chook loop. your leash attaches to the small ring on the chook loop itself. this flags the kite out to the front lines. check website for more pics.

water relaunch is easy. it doesnt pop out the water quite like a delta shape kite but it doesnt take much effort at all.
you can also reverse launch the hydra if it lands leading edge down by pulling the rear lines.

hope this helps.

cheers james

Thanks James, I will look out for you and possibly get a chance to have a go of the new Hydra. The Darwin kiters seem to get alot of light winds, so I wonder if they use them up there? The safety system looks similar to the Cab IDS, which seems to work O/K.
