Hey Guys,

Have been doing this for a little while now and just got a 12m Blade Vertigo. Took it out this weekend to beachport for a go and with the wind gusts, was having trouble keeping it at neutral as it wants to fall forwards and die! Thought I would find out from the more experienced what I need to do to keep the kite in the sky when Im trying to get my gear on. If it keeps passing over my head while at 12 do I need to:

1: Power it up a bit more to keep the kite lower in the window or
2: De-power it a bit so that when the gust drops away, it isnt sitting too high in the window.

I suppose the final option is that due to the aspect ratio of the kite, I am gonna have to live with this issue.

anyway, any advice from the more experienced would be helpful.

Cheers Guys,

Luke.

its a blade, your gonna have to get used to the fact they randomly fall out of the sky and do other random stuff. if its possible try to keep it powered up and lower in the window.

Cheers Mate,

I was originally going to get a Cabrinha cause i had an old one as my original Kite and loved it but the lower price of the Blade was irresistable. Guess I will just have to get used to it....

I have read a few reviews on the 08 Blade Vertigo and havent really seen too many dissapointments so I will try and keep the power up a bit and see if that helps. Wind may have been too light and gusty for its liking. Cheers!

maybe check your line lengths- sounds like your back ones might be too long.....

Hey Luke,
I will probably be in Beachport this coming weekend.
If your around I will have a look to see it I can 't shead some light onto what might be happening.

Thanks Ian, I unfortunately (sarcastically) have to go motorbike riding this weekend so wont be around. I dont know when I will be back in beachport but will definately be checking out the ONBOARD Demo Day coming up in November.

I think for now, I will have a bit of a play with the line length and trimming the kite a bit better hopefully to keep the kite lower in the window.

Thanks for the help guys,

Luke.

Hi Luke

The best advice I can give is never keep your kite directly at 12. Always keep it a little to the left or right of 12 (11 or 1), this will help prevent your ploblem. Also like loverboy said check you rear line because they may be a little long.

Cheers

Travis

Yep, Cheers, Thats what I ended up doing for most of the day was keeping it at 11 or 1. I pulled my lines out and had a good look at the setup (being different from my cabrinha 4 line bar) and there is adjustments to decrease the back line length. I will give this a go and see how I fare. Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Luke.

I would suggest that the rear lines are set on the bottom knot. Kite needs to be set up on the second knots on the steering lines.

In gusty condition the kite will try and power forward over your head. Try and keep kite lower more like 10 or 2 o clock.

skater344 Maybe you should give me a call and come and try a Blade Kite. Then you can make a more informed comment.

Thanks
Danny

i do have a blade (vertigo 10m), its a great kite, i can jump way higher with it than any other kite i've ridden, but it still does fall out of the sky on me every now and again

Thanks Danny, I had it powered up on the kite end of the lines but I have also now moved the notch down one further on the bar end of the lines. Hopefully this will keep it powered up enough. I think it was mainly from the conditions being a bit gusty and me not flying it aggressively.

Thanks for the advice, Luke.
